Recap by phillip woo

Sunshine Warrior quickened nicely to just edge favourite Green Luck after making his run four-back and one -off the fence. He had trialled very well following a good run at Sha Tin in September. Green Luck did everything right but get the win after hitting the front 100m out following a one-off run in midfield. He's a winner waiting to happen over this course. Flying Quest stayed on well for a placing after switching inside for a run 280m out following a rail run in midfield. He's always a chance over this Valley trip. Butterfield sprouted wings from near last to fill the frame. He was the class of the race but the big weight and wide gate worked against him. Alpha Hedge kept on one-paced following a box-seat run. He's on his mark. Insayshable ran on without menacing from towards the rear. He rarely produces a bad run. Star Performance made some ground down the outside without threatening following a patient ride at the rear of the field.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (201) - CHEUNG HONG HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1650Meters

SUNSHINE WARRIOR was slow to begin.

PANFIELD was steadied to obtain cover in the early stages.

From the outside barriers, INSAYSHABLE, STAR PERFORMANCE and BUTTERFIELD were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Passing the winning post on the first occasion, FLYING QUEST and SUNSHINE WARRIOR raced tight inside GREEN LUCK.

Approaching the 1300 Metres, SUNSHINE WARRIOR was crowded for room between GREEN LUCK and FLYING QUEST, both of which shifted ground.

At the 300 Metres, FLYING QUEST was shifted to the inside of SOLAR WAI WAI to obtain clear running.

M L Yeung (FLYING QUEST) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 100 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of SOLAR WAI WAI, causing that horse to be unnecessarily hampered and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled.

M L Yeung was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 6 December 2020 and to expire on Thursday, 10 December 2020 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).

In addition, Jockey Yeung was fined $12,500.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SOLAR WAI WAI, K Teetan stated that after enjoying a good run in the early and middle stages, he elected to shift his mount to the outside of MAGNIFICENT passing the 300 Metres.

He said SOLAR WAI WAI lay in and was reluctant to improve outside that horse and therefore at the 250 Metres he elected to shift to the inside of MAGNIFICENT to obtain clear running.

He said SOLAR WAI WAI then continued to lay in approaching and passing the 200 Metres and was staying on only fairly until being crowded for room near the 100 Metres.

A veterinary inspection of SOLAR WAI WAI immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of BEAR AGAIN and STAR PERFORMANCE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

SUNSHINE WARRIOR and GREEN LUCK were sent for sampling.
