Racing Incident Report
Race Eight: (118) - FO TAN HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1200Meters
Apprentice C Wong (UTOPIA LIFE) was fined $2,000 for initially presenting himself to be weighed out with the incorrect saddle cloth number.
RACING FIGHTER shifted out at the start and bumped SUNNY BOY.
SUNNY BOY then lay in in the early stages, resulting in RACING FIGHTER being awkwardly placed inside SUNNY BOY.
MEGA HEART began awkwardly and made contact with the outside of its gate and then was bumped by BEAR SLAM which shifted out after also beginning awkwardly.
From the outside barrier, WILL POWER was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind to obtain cover.
Passing the 1000 Metres, ENCORE BOY raced tight inside KINGS SHIELD.
Making the turn near the 700 Metres, SUNNY BOY got its head on the side, lay in and bumped the running rail.
This resulted in SUNNY BOY becoming badly unbalanced and losing ground.
RACING FIGHTER, which was following SUNNY BOY, also lay in at the same point and made contact with the running rail and became unbalanced.
After the race, A Badel (CALIFORNIA CONCORD) was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of the horse which was racing in Class 2 for the first time today.
A veterinary inspection of CALIFORNIA CONCORD immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

WILL POWER and ENCORE BOY were sent for sampling.

Post-time favourite Will Power quickened nicely between runners near the outside to grab victory 50m out after a patient ride fourth last from a wide gate. He's successfully stepped into Class Two here. Encore Boy ran on well after a deep run towards the rear to edge Ugly Warrior in deep stretch for second. He's as honest as the day is long on this surface. It was a return to form for Ugly Warrior who found a couple just too good in the end after putting his head in front passing the 100m following a prominent run on the fence. He's well rated and relished a return to the dirt. Early favourite Red Desert came to win the race following a midfield run but came up flat 100m out. He needed the run. Highly Proactive grudgingly gave way after leading one off the fence. He's likely on or near his mark. Mega Heart got going late without menacing from towards the rear. He's found it harder twice at this level following a Class Three win at his final start last season.
