Race Three : (67) - CHONGQING HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 ERNEST FEELING (E209) A Hamelin Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 2 NEW FUTURE FOLKS (J418) B Thompson B Thompson was found guilty of a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 900 Metres (see BIENVENUE).
Lay in in the Home Straight and over the concluding stages B Thompson dropped his right rein.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 BIENVENUE (J490) L Hewitson Jumped only fairly.
B Thompson (NEW FUTURE FOLKS) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 900 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in, resulting in GREAT SPIRIT and NEW FUTURE FOLKS making contact and resulting in insufficient room being left for BIENVENUE, causing L Hewitson to check BIENVENUE when it lost its running at that point.
After assessing the carelessness grade 1 and the consequences grade 2 and having regard to Jockey Thompson's very good record, the Stewards determined the appropriate penalty to be a reprimand.
Passing the 400 Metres was steadied and shifted to the outside of TRIUMPHANT WARRIOR to continue into clear running.
Approaching the 100 Metres, when racing greenly, shifted in slightly and then was steadied to avoid TRIUMPHANT WARRIOR (K C Leung) which shifted out.
K C Leung was reprimanded.
Horse No 5 ENSHINE (J196) Z Purton Brushed a partition with its right hind leg in the Parade Ring, was examined by the Veterinary Officer on arrival at the Start and passed suitable to race.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 7 LESS IS MORE (H406) M Chadwick A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, LESS IS MORE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 8 GREAT SPIRIT (J155) M F Poon For a short distance near the 400 Metres was held up behind NEW FUTURE FOLKS.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 9 TRIUMPHANT WARRIOR (H430) K C Leung Approaching the 300 Metres was held up for clear running between ENSHINE which shifted out slightly and CIRCUS REEL.
TRIUMPHANT WARRIOR was then shifted to the outside of CIRCUS REEL after the 300 Metres to secure clear running.
Horse No 10 GLUCK RACER (E157) M L Yeung From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After the 100 Metres was momentarily crowded between ERNEST FEELING and BIENVENUE which shifted out when racing greenly.

Great Spirit just saw off early favourite New Future Folks after poking his head in front 150m out for a first win at his seventh start. He had shown hints of ability last season. After settling better than midfield and one off the fence from the widest draw, New Future Folks found one just too good after briefly hitting the lead just under the 200m. He is a winner waiting to happen following seconds in both starts. Triumphant Warrior ran on nicely to make it close on the wire after a prominent run on the fence. He keeps promising without delivering across both surfaces. Ernest Feeling came from well back and widest out to finish fourth without threatening the top three. Bienvenue ran on well to just miss the frame after settling third last along the inside. Gluck Racer ran on without threatening after being ridden for luck at the rear from a wide draw. He should come on for the run and is better suited over 1,400m nowadays. Less is More never came on after a one-off trip from behind midfield.
