Horse No 1 PACKING POWER (J284) Z Purton Bumped shortly after the start.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 FLYING WROTE (J290) Y L Chung Bumped shortly after the start.
Horse No 3 HAPPY TRIO (G244) K Teetan Had its right hind plate adjusted in the saddling stalls, examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.
Horse No 4 AURORA LADY (J066) C Y Ho Approaching the 1000 Metres was eased when momentarily crowded by PACKING POWER which lay in and away from COLONEL which shifted in whilst also laying in.
Horse No 6 RAGNARR (H297) H Bentley After travelling a short distance was steadied when crowded between TO INFINITY and FAIRY HORSE which shifted in and away from AURORA LADY.
After the event, H Bentley stated that the intention was to be more forward but after jumping awkwardly, his mount settled further back than intended.
Horse No 7 COLONEL (D090) B Thompson Near the 150 Metres B Thompson dropped his whip.
Horse No 8 FAIRY HORSE (J144) M L Yeung Noted to have blood in its mouth after the race.

Packing Power showed his inexperience early but settled in plenty of time to reel off a second commanding win from as many career starts. After stalking leader Colonel in the run, hot favourite Packing Power let down beautifully in the home straight and coasted away to salute by two and a half lengths. Long shot Fairy Horse travelled third and stuck on solidly to grab second at $35, holding off second favourite Aurora Lady by a length. Aurora Lady does look like a horse with promise but he hasn't quite put it all together just yet. There was very little to write home about behind the placegetters, with Flying Wrote plain in fourth, almost five lengths off the winner. Fifth placegetter Happy Trio entered the race below his last winning mark on a rating of 56 but was unable to fire a shot, while Ragnarr and To Infinity were disappointing and crossed the line at the back of the field. While Colonel didn't set a ridiculous pace in his first start after switching from Ricky Yiu Poon-fai to Mark Newnham, he was quick to compound after straightening for home.
