Racing Incident Report
Race Ten : (741) - POK FU LAM RESERVOIR ROAD HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 CHIU CHOW SPIRIT (H175) A Badel Jumped only fairly.
Near the 1000 Metres was bumped by EIGHTY LIGHT YEARS and was steadied away from SILVER SONIC.
Over the concluding stages the whip of A Badel was caught behind the leg of B Avdulla, the rider of BEAUTY CRESCENT.
Horse No 2 EIGHTY LIGHT YEARS (H170) E C W Wong Approaching the 1000 Metres was crowded between CHIU CHOW SPIRIT and MOJAVE DESERT which shifted out.
Approaching the 400 Metres was bumped by MOJAVE DESERT which shifted out.
After the race, Apprentice E C W Wong stated that his instructions were to endeavour to lead.
He said his mount was slow to begin, was crowded shortly after and settled further back.
He added EIGHTY LIGHT YEARS raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages and after being crowded near the 1000 Metres and racing wide and without cover thereafter was left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 3 BEAUTY CRESCENT (H334) B Avdulla Approaching the 1000 Metres was taken in and bumped.
Horse No 4 GOLDEN ARTIE (G434) B Thompson Near the 1100 Metres, after improving to the inside of SILVER SONIC (L Ferraris), was then steadied to avoid the heels of that runner.
L Ferraris was reprimanded.
Horse No 5 MOJAVE DESERT (J330) L Hewitson Bumped at the start.
Shifted out approaching the 400 Metres and was bumped.
M Chadwick (BEAUTY THUNDER) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 1000 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of BEAUTY CRESCENT, resulting in BEAUTY CRESCENT being taken in and making contact with SUPER GOLDI and then forcing SUPER GOLDI in across the running of MOJAVE DESERT, resulting in MOJAVE DESERT having to be checked and also crowding THE HEIR which was racing to the inside of MOJAVE DESERT.
M Chadwick was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Thursday, 4 July 2024 at Happy Valley.
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his very good race riding record.
Horse No 7 THE HEIR (H459) H Bowman Bumped at the start.
Approaching the 1000 Metres was steadied when crowded for room.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 8 ACROSS DA UNIVERSE (J328) M F Poon Shortly after the start was steadied when crowded between BEAUTY CRESCENT and SUPER GOLDI which was taken out by BEAUTY GLORY.
Leaving the 1000 Metres was checked to avoid THE HEIR.
Horse No 9 SUPER GOLDI (H477) K C Leung Approaching the 1000 Metres was bumped, became unbalanced and shifted in.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Sensationally backed Beauty Glory went wire-to-wire after skipping clear by three lengths coming to the final bend for a second win and first in this grade from his past three starts. Leslie came from a distant last near the inside to finish a close second. He had been out of form but was back to the mark of a trip success in December. Chiu Chow Spirit dashed well with two wider out to fill a placing after biding his time three from the rear. He continues to race well carrying big weights in his past three starts. Beauty Crescent whacked on one-paced after settling off the speed in third. Favourite The Heir came up one-paced over the last 100m with his move from behind midfield. He needed that off an injury-induced absence. Across Da Universe ran on without threatening after making his run one from the rear. It was an okay effort on debut in Hong Kong. Super Goldi just held his ground in the straight drive after a prominent run on the fence. Eighty Light Years never got into the act from behind midfield after a slow start.
