Racing Incident Report
Race Eight : (730) - VIOLET HILL HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 KAHOLO ANGEL (H216) H Bowman Jumped awkwardly and then from the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 2 WATCH BUDDY (H185) H Bentley Shortly after the start was crowded by LADY'S CHOICE which shifted in.
Horse No 3 LADY'S CHOICE (H155) K Teetan Shifted in shortly after the start and was bumped.
Shifted out approaching the 1100 Metres and was bumped.
After the race, K Teetan advised that the horse, which was having its first race start at Happy Valley tonight, was not comfortable racing around the Happy Valley circuit.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 HAPPY FAT CAT (G166) E C W Wong For some distance near the 100 Metres was taken wider by YOUTHFUL SPIRITS which shifted out.

Horse No 5 YOUTHFUL SPIRITS (J082) L Ferraris Shifted out under pressure near the 100 Metres.
When questioned, L Ferraris stated that with his mount stepping up from the 1000 Metres to the 1200 Metres tonight, he had expected to lead the event.
He said YOUTHFUL SPIRITS was able to hold the front without being pressured to do so and making the first turn he endeavoured to restrain his mount to set a more sustainable pace, however, YOUTHFUL SPIRITS raced with an awkward head carriage and did not respond to his efforts.
He added in the middle stages he allowed his mount to travel comfortably, particularly in circumstances where YOUTHFUL SPIRITS had had throat surgery and had he continued to restrain his mount, this may have affected the horse's ability to finish the race off.
Horse No 8 ACT OF FAITH (H082) A Hamelin Approaching the 1100 Metres was bumped by LADY'S CHOICE which shifted out.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, ACT OF FAITH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 10 TELECOM SPEED (G259) Y L Chung Raced wide and without cover until near the 750 Metres.
Horse No 11 KING ECCELLENTE (G264) K De Melo Was left racing wide and without cover from the 750 Metres.
Horse No 12 KYRUS DRAGON (H396) A Badel Jumped only fairly.

After chasing the tearaway leader Youthful Spirits, Happy Fat Cat surged to the lead and just held on for a fourth Valley 1,200m win this season. The move to a seven-pound claimer worked a treat. Kyrus Dragon zipped through the middle to make it close on the wire after a patient ride one from the rear. He has been racing well and his first local win is around the corner. Well-backed late, Kaholo Angel came from a distant last along the inside to snatch third. He continues to hit the wire very well from wide draws in his past two starts after a win in April. Punted late, Youthful Spirits grudgingly gave way after leading at one point by fourth lengths despite setting a genuine pace. It was a good run stepping beyond 1,000m for the first time and he should get away with a race shortly. Righteous Arion ran on steadily near the outside to just finish out of the frame after settling one off the rail in midfield. It was another honest effort despite a rise in class following a win. Favourite Lady's Choice had his chance but failed to lift after a box-seat run. He 's a better horse at Sha Tin.
