Recap by phillip woo

Newcomer Young Superstar kept up a strong gallop after dictating the pace from gate one to win on his local debut after taking out his only start in Singapore. He is still only a three-year-old and has a nice future. Prawns Eleven ran on nicely for second after getting held up from just worse than midfield. It was a better run after failing with excuses in four prior starts. Stellar Express whacked on one paced after chasing the leader one off the fence. He had his chance. Hasten Delight just held his ground after chasing the speed one off just behind the leading pair. Thriving Brothers ran on reasonably well to just miss the frame after a one-off trip from midfield. It was an encouraging first-up effort. James Tak ran on without ever looking a threat after a one-off trip from midfield. He ran below expectations after three wins and three placings from his opening seven starts. Great State made some ground late after biding his time one from the rear. Ace Victory tamely faded after a prominent run on the fence. It was a disappointing effort.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six : (717) - FO TAN HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters

Horse No 2 JAMES TAK (J007) C L Chau After the race, C L Chau reported that his instructions were to hold a forward position, but JAMES TAK bounded on jumping and lost some ground.

He said as a result he was obliged to settle in a midfield position, but JAMES TAK raced keenly in the early and middle stages and as a consequence was unable to finish the race off.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 STELLAR EXPRESS (J186) H Bowman Shifted in abruptly at the start and was bumped on the hindquarters.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 GREAT STATE (J124) K De Melo Over the concluding stages was crowded by THRIVING BROTHERS (L Hewitson) which shifted in and as a result could not be ridden out to the finish of the event.

L Hewitson was advised to exercise more care.

Horse No 6 PRAWNS ELEVEN (J140) H Bentley Jumped awkwardly and then was crowded by STELLAR EXPRESS which shifted in abruptly.

Between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when positioned behind STELLAR EXPRESS.

When questioned regarding his riding and the reason he did not shift to the inside of STELLAR EXPRESS in the early part of the Home Straight sooner, H Bentley stated that when following STELLAR EXPRESS, he was of the opinion that runner was travelling very well as Jockey H Bowman had not asked his mount for an effort.

He said when H Bowman commenced to ride STELLAR EXPRESS along and the horse did not quicken as he had anticipated, he then shifted to the inside of STELLAR EXPRESS approaching the 300 Metres to obtain clear running.

The Stewards found the tactics adopted by Jockey Bentley, having regard to his explanation, were reasonable in the circumstances.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 7 ACE VICTORY (H076) B Thompson Shortly after the start was bumped.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported.

Horse No 9 YOUNG SUPERSTAR (J400) Y L Chung Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 10 THRIVING BROTHERS (J396) L Hewitson In the early stages raced keenly and approaching the 900 Metres was steadied to avoid HASTEN DELIGHT which was eased by its rider C Y Ho when racing to the inside of STELLAR EXPRESS.

Held up for clear running after the 200 Metres behind STELLAR EXPRESS and near the 100 Metres was steadied when disappointed for clear running between HASTEN DELIGHT and STELLAR EXPRESS which shifted out slightly.

Was then shifted to the inside of STELLAR EXPRESS where it obtained clear running approaching the 50 Metres.

Horse No 11 BULB EMPEROR (J241) A Atzeni Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
