Favourite Chancheng Glory easily reeled in Outgate 120m out after a one-off trip from midfield for a fifth win this season with a step back to his favourite 1,600m after a positive sixth in the Derby. Punted late Outgate stuck on nicely to finish a clear-cut second after claiming the lead 200m out from Flaming Rabbit following a speed-tracking run. It was a good performance. Bourbonaire whacked on reasonably well for third after a box seat run. He was able to build on a fourth last time out. The Golden Scenery ran on steadily for fourth after a handy run along the inside carrying top weight. Helene Feeling whacked on one paced after a prominent run with late-market action. He seems more effective at the Valley. The Best Peach got going late to finish next best after biding his time one from the rear. He is better suited over the 1,800m. Flaming Rabbit mustered to eventually lead 1,300m out but was gassed 150m out. He disappointed after giving a cheeky sight for a win and third in two prior starts. Mr Ascendency never landed a blow from behind midfield. It was an out-of-character performance.

After the race, L Hewitson reported that his mount gave ground quickly over the final 100 Metres and, in his opinion, would appreciate a surface with more give in it.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
