Recap by phillip woo

Awesome Treasure kept finding after moving to the lead 350m out following a speed-chasing run on the fence for a second win and first over the Sha Tin 1,200m from 27 starts. Odds-on favourite King Miles ran on well to finish a close second after switching off heels 350m out travelling behind midfield following a tardy start. It was another good performance carrying more weight following a win. Urban Triumph just won a battle for third after a prominent run along the inside. He was able to back up a confidence building win in Class Five. Crazy Treasure came from last to just miss a placing. He might be crying out for 1,400m after doing his best work late to go close in three of his past four starts. Pins Prince stayed on fifth best without threatening the top four after chasing the leading pair one off the fence. It was a better run on his past few starts following a downgrade. Smart Leader kept on reasonably well after a wide without cover trip from better than midfield. It was a decent effort, but he is a better chance in Class Five. Storm Legend just held his ground after a one off trip from better than midfield.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five : (660) - THE KOWLOON CRICKET CLUB CENTENARY CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 3 KING MILES (J158) H Bowman Jumped only fairly.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 SUPER HIGHWAY (G050) Y L Chung Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, SUPER HIGHWAY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 6 AWESOME TREASURE (E435) M L Yeung Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 7 ALP'S AFFECTION (J289) L Hewitson Bumped shortly after the start and became unbalanced.

Horse No 8 OMAKASE (H416) K Teetan Near the 200 Metres CRAZY TREASURE improved to the inside of URBAN TRIUMPH (M Chadwick) and then was taken in slightly by URBAN TRIUMPH, resulting in OMAKASE being positioned tight to the inside of CRAZY TREASURE.

When CRAZY TREASURE and OMAKASE made slight contact, OMAKASE over-reacted, became unbalanced and lost ground.

M Chadwick was advised to exercise more care.

Horse No 9 STRATHBARRY (H413) Z Purton From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Noted to have bled from both nostrils after the race.

Before being allowed to race again, STRATHBARRY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 10 CRAZY TREASURE (J063) A Badel From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

In the middle stages raced keenly and near the 650 Metres was steadied away from KING MILES.

Prior to declaring weighed-in, the Stewards viewed the patrol films to ascertain if there were sufficient grounds to lodge a protest/objection against 3rd placegetter URBAN TRIUMPH on behalf of the connections of CRAZY TREASURE.

After taking into consideration the minor nature of the incident and the manner in which both horses finished the race off, and when Jockey Badel did not lodge a protest/objection, the Stewards declared weighed-in on the numbers semaphored by the judge when they could not be satisfied that this incident had materially affected the finishing positions of the two horses.

Horse No 11 SMART LEADER (B456) K De Melo Bumped shortly after the start and became unbalanced.

Raced wide and without cover from the 1000 Metres.
