Recap by phillip woo

Well-backed Beauty Eternal stole the race after setting moderate fractions leading from the widest draw for a ninth career win and first at his fourth Group One outing. Specked late Red Lion kept finding to just hold second after tracking the winner from gate eight. He did have good form on wet going. Voyage Bubble couldn't reel in Red Lion for second after a box seat run. He had his chance. Raging favourite Golden Sixty only plodded settling effectively one-out, one-back after jumping quickest of all from gate seven. He was returning off an injury and didn't enjoy the rain-affected ground. Galaxy Patch ran on reasonably well to finish next best without threatening the top four from behind midfield. It was a good run in a race run to suit the leaders. Taj Dragon just plodded after a rails run from midfield. He isn't a miler. Beauty Joy ran on without threatening from near last. He wasn't suited by the race tempo. Japan's Elton Barows came up flat from behind midfield. He was the best of the four overseas runners.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven : (623) - THE FWD CHAMPIONS MILE - Class G1 - 1600Meters

Horse No 1 GOLDEN SIXTY (C238) C Y Ho After the race, C Y Ho reported that after his mount commenced well, he elected to take up a position behind the lead.

He stated that he was satisfied with this position as, in his opinion, the racing pattern of today had favoured on-pace runners.

He added that when placed under pressure in the Home Straight GOLDEN SIXTY did not quicken as it has previously which he attributed to the "Yielding" track conditions.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 BEAUTY ETERNAL (H008) Z Purton When questioned, Z Purton stated that from the outside barrier he was given the option of going forward and leading in the race where it appeared there was little early speed.

He said after commencing well, he allowed BEAUTY ETERNAL to stride to the front and, in his opinion, the horse was advantaged by being able to race on the rail today.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 OBAMBURUMAI (J824) D Lane Shortly after the start was bumped.

Horse No 6 BRAVE EMPEROR (J825) L Morris When questioned regarding the performance, L Morris stated that the intention was to race in or outside the lead.

He said BRAVE EMPEROR jumped awkwardly, made contact with OBAMBURUMAI and as a result lost ground.

He said despite riding his mount along in the early stages, he was unable to race in his preferred position and as a result settled in a handy position where he followed GOLDEN SIXTY.

He added that with his mount stepping up in grade for today's event, BRAVE EMPEROR then was unable to finish the race off due to the fact that it had settled further back in the field than anticipated.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 7 CHAMPAGNE COLOR (J826) R Sakai Knuckled over on jumping and lost ground.

Horse No 8 ELTON BAROWS (J827) A Nishimura Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 10 RED LION (H115) H Bowman Sent for sampling post-race.
