Racing Incident Report
Race Ten: (424) - ROSE HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1600Meters
On arrival at the Start, it was noted that TEMPEST EXPRESS had lost its left front plate.
This plate was refitted.
TEMPEST EXPRESS was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.
CIRCUIT THREE was slow to begin.
ROMAN TURBO shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of TEMPEST EXPRESS.
SUNSHINE WARRIOR began very awkwardly and became unbalanced after being bumped by TSAR which shifted out.
After this, from wide barriers, both TSAR and SUNSHINE WARRIOR were shifted across behind runners.
After travelling a short distance, MY SUGAR and CALIFORNIA TEN bumped, resulting in CALIFORNIA TEN becoming unbalanced.
Near the 1550 Metres, NAVAS TWO shifted in and bumped THE ROCK.
In the early and middle stages, TSAR raced with its head on the side and lay out.
Passing the 800 Metres, CHANCHENG PRINCE was steadied away from the heels of ALL FOR ST PAUL'S when awkwardly placed behind that horse.
Approaching the 300 Metres, E STAR was shifted to the inside of ALL FOR ST PAUL'S when unable to improve between that horse and CHANCHENG PRINCE.
Passing the 300 Metres, CHANCHENG PRINCE, which was commencing to give ground, was steadied away from the heels of ALL FOR ST PAUL'S which was taken out by TEMPEST EXPRESS (V Borges).
V Borges was severely reprimanded and told that in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mounts.
TSAR had some difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 300 Metres and approaching the 250 Metres was shifted to the inside of ROMAN TURBO.
TSAR was then inconvenienced passing the 150 Metres by MY SUGAR which shifted in before being directed out to relieve the crowding to TSAR.
When MY SUGAR was directed out, ROMAN TURBO, which was following, was inconvenienced in consequence.
Passing the 50 Metres, NAVAS TWO got its head on the side and shifted in under pressure.
Throughout the race, ALL FOR ST PAUL'S travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of ALL FOR ST PAUL'S and TEMPEST EXPRESS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
NAVAS TWO, CALIFORNIA TEN and CIRCUIT THREE were sent for sampling.

California Ten quickened nicely to get up 150m out for the win after a patient ride third last one from the rear. No surprise after a second-up win over the 1,800m and was an unlucky fifth last start over this trip. Circuit Three couldn't quite pull back the margin after getting held up in traffic until the 300m and allowing the winner first run travelling two from the back. He had been knocking on the door in three prior runs. Longshot Tsar came from last to snatch third without menacing the top pair. It was a better effort third up but he's hard to get right. Favourite Navas Two came up one-paced over the final 100m to just fill the frame after a wide with cover run behind midfield. He wasn't quite ready to tackle the 1,600m. E Star made some ground without menacing after a one-off run worse than midfield. He hasn't disgraced in his past three runs. My Sugar weakened over the last 100m after hitting the front passing the 300m following a box-seat run. He was reported to be slightly lame in his lead-up to his run. All For St Paul's will sleep well after chasing the speed wide without cover despite jumping quickest of all. It was a poor decision not to occupy his usual spot in front by Matthew Poon Ming-fai.
