Racing Incident Report
Race One: (366) - BABINGTON HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Meters
J Moreira (BRILLIANT FORTUNE) was fined $2,000 for initially presenting himself to be weighed out with the incorrect saddle cloth number.
NAMJONG SINGS was slow to begin.
LIKE THAT was bumped on jumping by BRILLIANT FORTUNE which shifted out.
WINE AND WINE was steadied to obtain cover in the early stages.
Despite being ridden along for some distance in the early stages, FLYING GENIUS failed to muster speed.
When being steadied to obtain cover behind LIKE THAT passing the 900 Metres, HEART CONQUERED was momentarily awkwardly placed outside the heels of that horse.
Passing the 700 Metres, HEART CONQUERED was steadied away from the heels of LIKE THAT.
Near the 100 Metres, NAMJONG SINGS shifted out towards the heels of SPECIAL M which also shifted in as NAMJONG SINGS was improving into tight running between that horse and BRILLIANT FORTUNE.
This resulted in NAMJONG SINGS being inconvenienced, shifting in and brushing BRILLIANT FORTUNE approaching the 50 Metres.
SPECIAL M then shifted out after the 50 Metres and inconvenienced LIKE THAT.
After the race, M Chadwick stated that after being steadied to obtain a trailing position in the early stages, HEART CONQUERED travelled satisfactorily throughout the run, however, did not finish the race off after being placed under pressure in the Straight.
A veterinary inspection of HEART CONQUERED immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
STOLTZ and SPECIAL M were sent for sampling.

Even-money favourite Stoltz won comfortably in track-record time after coasting to the front 260m out following a pace-stalking run outside Brilliant Fortune. It was an overdue win after seconds in his first two local runs and he can win again. Special M was no match for the winner but did grab second 100m out after a prominent run on the fence. It was another good run after beating the top pick in two prior starts over this Valley trip. Like That just edged Namjong Sings for third after travelling one-off behind the leading pair. He's as honest as the day is long. Namjong Sings was finishing well along the inside to miss third by a bob of the heads after settling third last. He just hasn't been good enough after an opening win but the handicapper has so far believed otherwise, with it his fourth straight run off a mark of 73. Brilliant Fortune weakened 100m out after getting pressured by the eventual winner while hugging the fence to the lead. No surprise to see him knock up after setting swift fractions. Heart Conquered was unable to land a blow travelling one-off better than midfield. He's not racing well at the moment. Wine And Wine didn't land a blow travelling one from the rear. He's destined for a downgrade. Flying Genius struggled at the back. He's still to find a bottom in eight runs this term.
