Silver Fig had the momentum going nicely down the outside to run down Kurpany 60m after straightening four back and one off the fence. He goes very well fresh and was winning for the fifth time over this surface and trip. Kurpany kept on well for second after racing to the lead 300m out chasing the speed three wide without cover the entire trip from a wide draw. It was a solid effort in debut. Man Star stayed on well for third after a prominent run on the fence. It was an improved effort with a return to his preferred surface at his second run in this grade. We The South gradually faded after going for home on top near the 300m stalking the leader Flying Bonus from an awkward gate. He's run with merit in two of three runs on this surface but doesn't have much room to manoeuvrer higher off his current mark. Plunged late Private Rocket made some ground late without threatening following a one-off run around midfield. Prefer him in Class Three. Punted late Winner Method never looked likely after biding his time third from the rear. Favourite Hongkong Great never featured travelling box-seat. He's usually at his best when allowed to bowl along in front at a mile or 1,800m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (91) - TSUEN LOK HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1200Meters

WINNER METHOD lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and began only fairly.

After this, despite being vigorously ridden along, WINNER METHOD failed to muster speed.

IGNITING began awkwardly, got its head on the side and shifted out.

SILVER FIG began awkwardly.

Passing the 1100 Metres, RED DESERT raced tight outside MAN STAR.

Making the turn near the 650 Metres, IGNITING lay out and was awkwardly placed inside CZARSON.

Approaching the 100 Metres, IGNITING was held up for clear running when being shifted out away from the heels of RED DESERT.

Throughout the race, KURPANY travelled wide and without cover.

After the race, K Teetan stated that despite being ridden along in the early stages, HONGKONG GREAT was not able to show enough speed to lead.

He said once HONGKONG GREAT was crossed by FLYING BONUS after the 1000 Metres, HONGKONG GREAT appeared to resent the kickback and because of this did not finish off the race as anticipated.

A veterinary inspection of HONGKONG GREAT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
