Punted late Computer Patch just got up 50m out after a midfield run one off the far side to ring up a second win from five starts. Hong Kong Win was nabbed on the wire after working to the lead 250m out making his run near the speed in the centre of the track from a middle draw. Favourite Duke Wai took a while to get going but really let down in the last 100m after making his run near the far side travelling slightly worse than midfield. It was another fine effort in defeat. Gold Chest finished willingly on the far side from near last to make it close on the wire. Multimillion grudgingly gave way after dictating the run. He's not up to the challenge at this level. Stronger stayed on without menacing travelling midfield on the far side. This was a lot richer test after saluting last month at the Valley. Water Diviner ran on without menacing from near the back. He's on his mark.

Racing Incident Report

Race Ten: (481) - FAN LAU HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1000Meters

ELITE PATCH, which was slow to begin, stumbled on jumping.

RED DESERT shifted out at the start and bumped MR LUMIERES.

RED DESERT then became unbalanced after making contact with HONG KONG WIN.

REFINED TREASURE began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped COMPUTER PATCH.

Passing the 800 Metres, SHINING ACE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of RED DESERT.

Approaching the 200 Metres, SHINING ACE momentarily raced in restricted room between SAUL'S SPECIAL and RED DESERT, both of which were giving ground.

After the race, Z Purton was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of STRONGER.

He said after travelling satisfactorily, the horse did not finish off the race as it did when successful at its last start at Happy Valley.

A veterinary inspection of STRONGER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of SAUL'S SPECIAL and REFINED TREASURE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

DUKE WAI, COMPUTER PATCH and HONG KONG WIN were sent for sampling.
