Recap by phillip woo

Amazing Luck settled one off in third, peeled out three-deep at the 550m, worked his way to a narrow lead 100m out and just prevailed in a three-way tussle. Well-backed Casa De Forca wouldn't go down without a fight after dictating the run with the claim well utilised. He was suited by the step up to the mile. Favourite Flame Lily was nipped late after briefly poking his head in front at the 150m stalking Casa De Forca from the jump. He continues to race well since a move late last season to the Valley 1,650m. Magnetism made a steady bid from just worse than midfield to finish a distant fourth. He requires a faster pace. Winning Endeavour ran on without menacing travelling one off behind midfield. It was a typical sort of run by the 12-start non-winner but he's not far from a bottom. Ultimate Glory made some ground without threatening settling third from the back. He struck a race run to suit those in front but is in the right class.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (135) - TSIM MEI FUNG HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters

GALA NIGHT was withdrawn on 29 October 2019 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore).

Before being allowed to race again, GALA NIGHT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

The Stewards tonight inquired into the reasons surrounding GALA NIGHT being withdrawn from this race.

Interviewed were Mr J Moore, the trainer of GALA NIGHT, Ms W S Yu, assistant trainer allocated to Mr Moore's stable for the current season, Mr K M Li, stables assistant, and Dr A Prabhu, Veterinary Officer.

Mr Moore pleaded guilty to a breach of Rule 50(3) in that he failed to fulfil his responsibilities in regards to 72(b) of the Trainers' Handbook, the particulars being that he did not report to the Veterinary Officer an incident which occurred in the sand yard at approximately 6:52 am on Tuesday, 29 October 2019 involving GALA NIGHT prior to or at the time of the horse being subjected to a routine pre-race veterinary inspection.

After considering all the circumstances of this case, Mr Moore was fined the sum of $20,000.

RAZOR QUEST shifted out at the start and bumped ULTIMATE GLORY.

WINNING ENDEAVOUR began only fairly and then was crowded for room between JOY MASTER and GREEN GENERATION which shifted in.

FLAME LILY shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of MY WINNER.

From wide barriers, JOY MASTER and GREEN GENERATION were steadied to obtain cover in the early stages.

Near the 1500 Metres, WINNING ENDEAVOUR (A Sanna), which was being ridden along, was checked away from the heels of RAZOR QUEST.

A Sanna was advised to exercise care when attempting to improve his position into running which other riders would not reasonably be aware of him attempting to improve into.

After this, RAZOR QUEST got its head up when steadied away from the heels of AMAZING LUCK which was awkwardly placed close to the heels of CASA DE FORCA.

Passing the 700 Metres, RAZOR QUEST was awkwardly placed behind AMAZING LUCK.

Passing the 500 Metres, ULTIMATE GLORY momentarily raced in restricted room between GREEN GENERATION and WINNING ENDEAVOUR.

Close to the finishing line, RAZOR QUEST was steadied away from the heels of WINNING ENDEAVOUR which shifted in.

A Sanna was advised to exercise more care.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of MY WINNER, C Schofield stated that MY WINNER was obliged to race further back in the field than had been hoped from the outside barrier.

He said MY WINNER did not appear to him to be entirely comfortable making the turns and approaching the 600 Metres was taken wider when bumped by JOY MASTER which shifted out.

He said he obtained a trailing position behind JOY MASTER near the 550 Metres and he hoped that he would be able to trail that horse into the race.

He said however that MY WINNER did not quicken with JOY MASTER and, despite being hard ridden approaching and rounding the Home Turn, gave ground and then did not finish off the race.

A veterinary inspection of MY WINNER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of MY WINNER, a last start winner and which finished last in tonight's race, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, MY WINNER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of JOY MASTER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.

FLAME LILY, AMAZING LUCK and CASA DE FORCA were sent for sampling.
