Racing Incident Report
Race One: (97) - KAM SHAN HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1800Meters
On arrival at the Start, it was noted that DRAGON WARRIOR had lost its right front plate.
DRAGON WARRIOR was replated and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.
GOLDEN KID was slow to begin.
From the outside barrier, ROMANTIC JOURNEY was steadied to obtain cover in the early stages.
Approaching the 1000 Metres, MONEY MARSHAL shifted out and was awkwardly placed inside the heels of COME ON WONGCHOY.
ASSOCIATION FANS, which was racing outside MONEY MARSHAL, was inconvenienced in consequence.
Passing the 900 Metres, MONEY MARSHAL shifted in of its own accord and brushed the running rail.
After the 700 Metres, YOUNG GLORY and OUR GREEN raced tight as YOUNG GLORY attempted to shift to the outside of DRAGON WARRIOR.
Passing the 600 Metres, DRAGON WARRIOR momentarily raced in restricted room inside KEEP GOING which got its head on the side and lay in.
KEEP GOING then became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by DRAGON WARRIOR.
At the entrance to the Straight, SKY GEM was shifted in away from the heels of COME ON WONGCHOY.
DRAGON WARRIOR had some difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 250 Metres.
Passing the 200 Metres, SKY GEM was shifted out away from the heels of MEGATRON to continue improving.
ASSOCIATION FANS lay in under pressure in the Straight.
After the race, it was noted that MEGATRON's left hind plate had shifted during the race.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of MONEY MARSHAL, L Hewitson stated that whilst the horse was inclined to lay in with him at its most recent start, tonight racing at Happy Valley the horse was inclined to lay in worse than it did at its previous starts.
He said MONEY MARSHAL was reluctant to shift away from the rail and then did not finish off the race.
A veterinary inspection of MONEY MARSHAL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of MEGATRON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.
SKY GEM, ASSOCIATION FANS and ROMANTIC JOURNEY were sent for sampling.

Association Fans just held off the late-fancied Romantic Journey by a bob of the heads after surging to the front near the 200m following a prominent run to score with money coming for him late. Romantic Journey nearly got up sitting last from a wide gate after taking off at the 800m. He wasn't beaten far in two of three earlier runs this term and one of his previous best runs had come over this Valley trip. Golden Kid closed well from near last after a tardy break to fill a placing. He's a winner waiting to happen in this grade. Favourite Sky Gem kept on a non-threatening fourth after hesitating to make his move at times behind a couple of tiring rivals at the top of the straight following a handy run on the fence. Dragon Warrior was caught up in traffic behind the tiring leaders after a rail run behind midfield from a bad gate. He should have finished closer. Young Glory ran on without menacing after settling fourth from the back. He's limited.
