Racing Incident Report
Race Five: (53) - THE HONG KONG COUNTRY CLUB CHALLENGE CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1200Meters
SMART OF YOUTH shifted in abruptly at the start and bumped KING'S TROOPER which was steadied and lost ground.
Then a short distance after the start, SMART OF YOUTH and GOLDEN GLORY bumped.
From a wide barrier, THOU SHALL SING was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
Despite being vigorously ridden in the early stages, GIFT OF LIFELINE failed to muster speed.
Despite being vigorously ridden for a considerable distance in the early stages, DRAGON DANCE failed to muster speed and after being left racing very wide was steadied after the 900 Metres to obtain cover.
DRAGON DANCE subsequently gave ground in the Straight and finished tailed out.
A veterinary inspection of DRAGON DANCE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The performance of DRAGON DANCE was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, DRAGON DANCE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Passing the 450 Metres, GOLDEN GLORY improved into tight running inside EPTIMUM.
Passing the 250 Metres, GOLDEN GLORY raced tight inside EPTIMUM.
Throughout the race, SUPREME PATROL and EPTIMUM travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of SMART OF YOUTH immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its right front leg.
Before being allowed to race again, SMART OF YOUTH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of EPTIMUM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of LAMAROSA, which was eased down over the concluding stages, immediately following the race found that horse to have bled.
KING'S TROOPER and GIFT OF LIFELINE were sent for sampling.

Co-favourite King's Trooper finished nicely after saving ground in midfield following a troubled start to take control 100m out for a first win at his fifth start. Equal-favourite Gift Of Lifeline came from a detached spot early on to just run down Confucius Day by a lip for second. It was a huge run in defeat and he'll be winning shortly. Confucius Day took the lead pressing the pace from Smart Of Youth at the 250m and kept on gamely for a placing. Generous Heart finished well to fill the frame after travelling fourth from the back. He's near a bottom. Punted late Lightning Steed came up one-paced following a boxseat run. He rarely produces a bad run but has trouble winning. Thou Shall Sing wasn't in his usual spot up front but did run on nicely after settling third from the back from an awkward gate. Newcomer Smart Of Youth was coming back to the field 150m out after showing good gate speed to lead from gate seven. He'll need more experience.
