Punted late Dollar Reward kept on gamely after hitting the front 100m out following a handy run on the fence from a good gate to break through at his 30th start. He had always promised. Firming to nearly jump favourite Gunnar stuck on well to finish a close second after stalking the speed from a tricky gate in his first run on the surface. He'll be scoring shortly on either surface. Drifting favourite Touch Of Luck just failed to get up from midfield for the Quinella spot. It was a good effort over an unsuitable trip. Promise Kept ran on nicely down the far outside after a patient ride second from the rear. Fancied late in betting Happy Happy Star gave way 100m out after getting his own way in front. He doesn't appear to be far off a bottom and will be hard to beat if he finds his way into Class Five. Generous Heart ran on without menacing from behind midfield. It wasn't a bad effort in his first run after bleeding and lameness issues.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (15) - NEW STREET HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

The start of the race was delayed due to PROMISE KEPT having its left front plate refitted.

PROMISE KEPT was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.

As the start was effected, JOYFUL CONTENDER bounded in the air, resulting in its rider, M Chadwick, becoming unbalanced.

A short distance after the start, JOYFUL CONTENDER again threw its head up.

In this incident, M Chadwick was struck in the head by JOYFUL CONTENDER.

After the race, M Chadwick was examined by the Chief Medical Officer and passed fit to fulfil his remaining race riding engagements.

Before being allowed to race again, JOYFUL CONTENDER will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.

SKY TREASURE stumbled at the start.

TOUCH OF LUCK shifted in at the start and bumped the hindquarters of GRAND HARBOUR.

PROMISE KEPT shifted in at the start and bumped EVER STRONG which in turn shifted in and bumped GUNNAR.

After this, from a wide barrier, PROMISE KEPT was steadied and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.

Despite being vigorously ridden in the early stages, EVER STRONG failed to muster speed.

Making the first turn near the 700 Metres, TOUCH OF LUCK shifted out when awkwardly placed behind DOLLAR REWARD, resulting in GENEROUS HEART racing tight inside KELMIMI WINS.

Near the 600 Metres, KELMIMI WINS raced tight outside GENEROUS HEART.

Near the 500 Metres, GUNNAR was bumped by GRAND HARBOUR (Apprentice K H Chan) which attempted to improve outside HAPPY HAPPY STAR were there was insufficient room.

Apprentice Chan was advised to exercise due care when attempting to improve in similar circumstances.

DOLLAR REWARD, which was following GRAND HARBOUR, raced close to the heels of that horse in consequence.

Throughout the race, SKY TREASURE travelled wide and without cover.

After the race, A Sanna reported that KELMIMI WINS made an abnormal breathing noise.

An endoscopic examination of KELMIMI WINS did not reveal any significant findings.

Before being allowed to race again, KELMIMI WINS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of SKY TREASURE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.

A veterinary inspection of GRAND HARBOUR and JOYFUL CONTENDER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

TOUCH OF LUCK, DOLLAR REWARD and GUNNAR were sent for sampling.
