Odds-on favourite True Grit came on strongly travelling fore of midfield to overhaul Universal Go Go 30m out for a third straight win despite a rise in weight. He's got the tools to win another before season's end. Punted late Universal Go Go kept on gamely to just hold second after claiming the lead 250m sitting a distant second behind World Famous' good pace. Harmony Hero stayed on well to just miss the Quinella spot following a prominent run carrying top weight. He's in the right grade but likely needs to take advantage of a claimer's allowance. Flying Quest closed nicely after travelling third from the back. It was a better effort from his past six runs after notching a second win in November. Xiang Bai Qi made a mild bid without menacing following a midfield run on the fence. He's still trying to find a bottom. Well-backed World Famous stopped badly after being hustled to lead at a decent pace from a tricky gate. He's still acclimatising.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (701) - SHAN PUI RIVER HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters

MERRYGOWIN began awkwardly and then, despite being vigorously ridden along, failed to muster speed.

FLYING QUEST was crowded for room on jumping between UNIVERSAL GO GO which shifted out and HARMONY HERO which shifted in abruptly.

From the outside barriers, RICKFIELD, MEGA RED and LET'S TAKE IT EASY were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Approaching the 600 Metres, FLYING QUEST raced in restricted room when improving into tight running between MEGA RED and TANGMERE.

Then passing the 600 Metres, TANGMERE was shifted out away from the heels of TRUE GRIT which shifted out to follow RICKFIELD.

This resulted in TANGMERE having to be steadied and bumping the hindquarters of FLYING QUEST, causing both horses to become unbalanced.

A veterinary inspection of RICKFIELD and MERRYGOWIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

TRUE GRIT and UNIVERSAL GO GO were sent for sampling.
