Recap by phillip woo

Bonito kept on gamely after being hustled to lead from a wide draw before the first bend to open his win account. He had been knocking and the door and there will be another win in him. Well-backed Gobi Storm finished level for the runner-up spot after moving to second 50m out following a midfield run. He can produce a good run now and then over this trip. Keep Winning finished well one from the right travelling fourth from the rear to dead-heat for second. A move to a tongue-tie last start on the dirt has brought out the best in him. Megatron just edged The Sylph to finish a distant fourth following a box-seat run. He'll be finding his mark in this grade shortly. The Sylph got going late sitting worse than midfield to make it close for fourth. He's not a prolific winner but rarely produces a bad run. Favourite Bingo Hero was yielding ground 150m out after jumping a lot better to park outside the eventual winner in the run from a wide gate. He's not genuine.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (585) - TSIM SHA TSUI HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1650Meters

On arrival at the barriers, C Y Ho expressed concern regarding the action of JIN JIN KING.

JIN JIN KING was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion the horse was lame in its left front leg and accordingly was not suitable to race.

Acting on this advice, JIN JIN KING was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.

Before being allowed to race again, JIN JIN KING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

WONDERFUL TIGER, which was standing awkwardly in the barriers, began only fairly and then was bumped on jumping by THE SYLPH which shifted out.

LETSGOFREE shifted in at the start and bumped INVESTOR BOOM.

KWAICHUNG BROTHERS began awkwardly and then shortly after the start was bumped by KEEP WINNING which was taken in by TRIUMPHANT LIGHT.

Passing the winning post on the first occasion, WONDERFUL TIGER was awkwardly placed close to the heels of TRIUMPHANT LIGHT.

WONDERFUL TIGER was then left racing wide and without cover near the 1300 Metres.

Approaching the 1300 Metres, INVESTOR BOOM got its head on the side and lay out towards the heels of KEEP WINNING when reluctant to maintain its position inside that horse.

When questioned regarding the performance of BINGO HERO, Z Purton stated that having regard to BINGO HERO beginning badly last start, he was asked to ensure that the horse began as best as possible tonight.

He said BINGO HERO began well and he did not ride his mount along in the early stages so as to ascertain which position BINGO HERO would be able to obtain.

He said due to the bunched nature of the field in the early stages he believed that it was in the best interests of BINGO HERO to allow the horse to improve to race outside the leader BONITO after passing the winning post on the first occasion.

He said he did not have to ride BINGO HERO along at any stage to obtain this position and after shifting in to race outside BONITO, BINGO HERO then travelled comfortably.

He added BINGO HERO came under pressure after the 500 Metres and was not able to quicken with BONITO, the eventual winner.

He said then in the Straight BINGO HERO was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to finish off the race.

He further stated that BINGO HERO is still immature at this stage of its career and, in his opinion, its nervous nature before the race does not assist it in performing to its best potential.

A veterinary inspection of BINGO HERO immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, BINGO HERO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

After the race, T H So stated that LETSGOFREE did not travel at any stage of the race and, despite being placed under heavy pressure after the 500 Metres, did not respond to his riding in the Straight.

Mr K H Ting, the trainer of LETSGOFREE, stated that after its most recent start he gave the horse a let-up and since resuming work LETSGOFREE had pleased him in the lead up to tonight's race.

He said based on the horse's work he anticipated that LETSGOFREE would perform competitively in this race.

A veterinary inspection of LETSGOFREE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of LETSGOFREE, which finished at the rear of the field, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, LETSGOFREE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of WONDERFUL TIGER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

BINGO HERO, BONITO, KEEP WINNING and GOBI STORM were sent for sampling.
