Racing Incident Report
Race Six: (420) - THE HAPPY VALLEY TROPHY (HANDICAP) - Class 1 - 1200Meters
WISHFUL THINKER lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and then became unbalanced when bumped by SUPER TURBO which shifted in.
After this, WISHFUL THINKER and SUPER TURBO were shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
Making the turn after the 600 Metres, SUPER HOPPY shifted in, brushed the running rail and became unbalanced.
WISHFUL THINKER lost its right hind plate near the 250 Metres.
Near the 150 Metres, WISHFUL THINKER was momentarily awkwardly placed inside TELECOM BROTHERS which shifted in.
After being directed towards the outside of GUNNISON to obtain clear running near the 100 Metres, SUPER TURBO was not able to continue to shift out for a short distance due to BORN IN CHINA being awkwardly positioned outside SUPER TURBO and inside ALMABABY.
Consequently, C Y Ho, the rider of SUPER TURBO, was not able to properly test his mount for a short distance after the 100 Metres.
After the race, S de Sousa was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of SUPER HOPPY.
He said SUPER HOPPY enjoyed a good run behind the speed, however, did not quicken in the Straight and failed to finish off the race.
A veterinary inspection of SUPER HOPPY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

GUNNISON, WISHFUL THINKER and CALIFORNIA FORTUNE were sent for sampling.

Wishful Thinker finished strongly when gaining a clear run 150m out travelling second last following a sluggish break to run down California Fortune in the final few strides for a third win from his past three starts. He's smart but needs to find a couple lengths to challenge the top sprinters. Punted late California Fortune wouldn't go down without a fight after reclaiming the lead from Sea Jade 450m out. He's quite effective over the 1,200m at either track. Favourite Gunnison stayed on a close third following a one-off run fore of midfield. He's running very well on both surfaces. Super Turbo finished well after being held up early straight sitting last to fill a Quartet spot. He's always a chance over this Valley trip. Old-timer Almababy ran on steadily sitting one-off beyond midfield. He's given a good sight in each of his five course-and-distance runs this term but has limited upside. Born In China left things much too late travelling second from the back.
