Recap by phillip woo

On a leader's dirt track, odds-on favourite Happy Tour drew clear upon straightening carrying top weight despite being taken on by Grand Harbour to win with something in hand in a class record time. Flying Lover ran on nicely racing worse than midfield to grab second in deep stretch. He lived up to some nice trials on the dirt. Bond Elegance kept plugging away following a prominent run to edge late-fancied Grand Harbour for a placing. He was fitter for a run and is always a chance on this surface. Old-timer Grand Harbour grudgingly gave way after trying to go with the winner to his outside. He can produce a good run now and then. Gracious Ryder made some ground travelling fifth from the back to finish just out of a Quartet spot in a pleasing first run on the surface. I Do finished reasonably well down the outside after travelling second from the rear in an encouraging debut. He's still learning and will want a longer trip in time.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (221) - MIDDLE HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

DR PROACTIVE was withdrawn on 30.11.18 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter STAR SUPERIOR (W M Lai).

Before being allowed to race again, DR PROACTIVE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Just prior to the start being effected, JUMBO BUS, which had been standing correctly, turned its head to the left, resulting in the horse losing a considerable amount of ground.

As the Stewards were satisfied that it was not reasonable for the Starter to have delayed effecting the start of the race prior to JUMBO BUS turning its head to the left, no further action was taken.

Prior to the declaration of weighed-in, M L Yeung, the rider of JUMBO BUS, viewed the video of the incident and did not make an application for the horse to be declared a non-runner.

Before being allowed to race again, JUMBO BUS will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial.

TRAVEL SUCCESSOR began awkwardly.

ALCAZAR and FLYING LOVER bumped heavily at the start.

DOMINATOR raced tight on jumping between GRAND HARBOUR and HAPPY TOUR, both of which shifted ground.

In this incident, HAPPY TOUR became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by DOMINATOR.

From the outside barrier, GRACIOUS RYDER was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Shortly after entering the Straight, TRAVEL SUCCESSOR and I DO bumped.

Throughout the race, ALCAZAR travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of DOMINATOR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of TRAVEL SUCCESSOR immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm.

Before being allowed to race again, TRAVEL SUCCESSOR will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

HAPPY TOUR and FLYING LOVER were sent for sampling.
