Happy Sound kept up a strong gallop after crossing to lead from a low gate for a third career win. He always goes well fresh but didn't beat much. Superior Boy stuck on reasonably well travelling fore of midfield one from the left to fill second. He keeps promising without delivering and prefers a longer trip. Whistle Up stayed on better travelling midfield in the centre of the course to just snatch third. He was starting to come around prior to some leg problems in January. Favourite Hot Hot Pepper gradually faded after travelling up on the speed on the stands side. He remains costly on a win line. Double Double finished better following a gear change for his new trainer travelling on the far side third from the back. Off this run, you'd figure a step up in distance would better suit him. Specked late, Master Viking came up flat over the last 150m chasing the speed near the grandstand side. He's not genuine but needed the run and prefers 1,200m.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (19) - ZHAOQING HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1000Meters

Just prior to the start being effected, RUMINARE became fractious and consequently was slow to begin.

GLITTERING ARMOUR was slow to begin.

WHISTLE UP began only fairly and then was crowded for room between SHOW MISSION which raced tight inside MASTER VIKING and DOUBLE DOUBLE which got its head on the side and shifted out away from SUPERIOR BOY.

In this incident, DOUBLE DOUBLE became badly unbalanced after being bumped by SHOW MISSION which continued to shift in.

SHOW MISSION lost its left front plate near the 600 Metres.

Approaching the 500 Metres, THE HAPPY BUNCH was awkwardly placed behind WISH COME TRUE.

Passing the 250 Metres, THE HAPPY BUNCH raced tight outside WISH COME TRUE which was taken out by MASTER VIKING which raced in restricted room outside WHISTLE UP.

For the majority of the race, DOUBLE DOUBLE hung out and proved difficult to ride.

After the race, it was noted that HOT HOT PEPPER was making a respiratory noise.

The Veterinary Officer reported that an endoscopic examination found the horse to be a "roarer?? A veterinary inspection of RUMINARE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

HOT HOT PEPPER, HAPPY SOUND and SUPERIOR BOY were sent for sampling.
