Punted late Super Hoppy closed furiously down the outside to nip favourite Fortune Booth on the line after showing no speed to remain unbeaten in three straight runs over this Valley trip despite a rise in class. Fortune Booth was just denied after hitting the front 100m out following a perfect run in midfield on the fence. Cheerfuljet grudgingly gave way after quickly finding the front from a middle gate. Almababy might have gotten up for third if not have to baulk for a run at the 100m following a handy run on the fence. He can pop up now and then. Super Turbo got going after settling near last from a wide gate to just miss a Quartet spot. He's always a chance over this course and distance . Well-backed late Kingsfield was closing with every stride to just miss a pay slip after a deep run with cover travelling behind midfield from an awkward gate. Fantastic Eight failed to lift in the drive after chasing the leader one off the fence.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (18) - BIG WAVE BAY HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1200Meters

BOLD STITCH began awkwardly, shifted in on jumping and bumped the hindquarters of CHEERFULJET.

KINGSFIELD shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of PERPETUAL TREASURE, causing both horses to become unbalanced.

From the outside barrier, SUPER TURBO was shifted across behind runners shortly after the start.

Shortly after the start, SUPER HOPPY raced tight between FANTASTIC EIGHT and ALMABABY which shifted out.

Approaching the 100 Metres, MAGIC LEGEND was momentarily inconvenienced by FANTASTIC EIGHT which shifted in.

After the 100 Metres, ALMABABY was shifted out away from the heels of CHEERFULJET to obtain clear running.

Throughout the race, PERPETUAL TREASURE travelled wide and without cover.

After the race, D Whyte was unable to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of MAGIC LEGEND.

He said whilst MAGIC LEGEND does not possess the same early speed that it had early in its career, nonetheless he was able to obtain a forward position in the race without too much use having to be made of the horse.

He said MAGIC LEGEND travelled satisfactorily in the middle stages, however, came under pressure rounding the Home Turn and was then disappointing in its failure to finish off the race.

A veterinary inspection of MAGIC LEGEND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.

SUPER HOPPY and FORTUNE BOOTH were sent for sampling.
