Recap by phillip woo

Multigogo wore down the late-punted Planet Star 50m out following a dream run in tot box-seat for a third win from four starts over this particular Valley trip. Planet Star wouldn't go down without a fight after being hustled to lead from a wide gate. He's been racing very well and clearly has the tools to two earlier wins this term. Favourite Kiram just held off the fast-finishing All You Know following a one-off run fore of midfield for third. All You Know finished very well from the tail of the field to just miss a placing in his best run to date. He appeared to appreciate the softer going. Plunged late Glory Star ran on down the outside to just finish out of the placings following a patient ride third from the rear. Happy And Healthy ran on all right after being asked to make headway 600m travelling second last from an outside alley. Spinner Dancer was travelled very well coming to the final bend following a midfield run but was eased down.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (635) - THE HONG KONG RACEHORSE OWNERS ASSOCIATION 40TH ANNIVERSARY - Class 4 - 1650Meters

MULTIGOGO shifted out at the start and bumped BO DUKE.

ASSOCIATION FANS began only fairly.

From wide barriers, ALL YOU KNOW and HAPPY AND HEALTHY were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Near the 1600 Metres, FOREVER KINDNESS shifted in and bumped KIRAM.

C Y Ho (SHALLUCK) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the winning post on the first occasion, when riding his mount along, he permitted his mount to shift in when not properly clear of FOREVER KINDNESS, resulting in that horse being unnecessarily crowded for room, being hampered and having to be steadied away from the heels of SHALLUCK.

C Y Ho was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 30 May 2018 and to expire on Monday, 4 June 2018 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).

In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Ho's good race riding record.

When being steadied to obtain cover near the 1300 Metres, FOREVER KINDNESS proved difficult to settle and got its head up on a number of occasions.

Approaching the 250 Metres, SPINNING DANCER was severely checked when attempting to improve between TELECOM MAN and SHALLUCK (C Y Ho) which shifted in.

When SPINNING DANCER was severely checked, that horse made contact with the hindquarters of TELECOM MAN and SHALLUCK which both became unbalanced.

SHALLUCK then shifted out and had to be momentarily steadied away from the heels of KIRAM.

As the Stewards were satisfied that SPINNING DANCER had not established running between TELECOM MAN and SHALLUCK, no further action was taken, however, C Y Ho was reminded of his obligation to make every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground.

After this, SPINNING DANCER was eased down by its rider and finished tailed out.

Having regard to the severity of the interference suffered by SPINNING DANCER, the Stewards took no further action against the horse.

A veterinary inspection of SPINNING DANCER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

In the Straight, ASSOCIATION FANS got its head on the side and lay in under pressure.

The performance of FOREVER KINDNESS, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, FOREVER KINDNESS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

When questioned, J Moreira (GLORY STAR) stated that he was asked to ride the horse in a forward position as is usual.

He said GLORY STAR did not begin well and then, despite being ridden along in the early stages, did not muster speed and was crossed by FOREVER KINDNESS shortly after the start.

He said after this GLORY STAR did not show any early speed and raced much further back in the field than had been anticipated.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of TELECOM MAN, U Rispoli stated that, in his opinion, TELECOM MAN did not handle racing at Happy Valley for the first time.

He said at Sha Tin when successful recently, TELECOM MAN was able to take up a forward position more easily than it was tonight.

He said in tonight's race he had to ride his mount along for some distance to obtain a forward position, but after allowing PLANET STAR to cross TELECOM MAN passing the winning post on the first occasion, he was able to shift across to race outside that horse and TELECOM MAN travelled well in the middle stages.

He added TELECOM MAN came under pressure after the 500 Metres and then did not finish off the race.

He said TELECOM MAN is only a three year old and at this stage lacks maturity.

A veterinary inspection of TELECOM MAN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

KIRAM, MULTIGOGO and PLANET STAR were sent for sampling.
