Recap by phillip woo

Wayfoong Vinnie got up 200m out for the win following a handy run. He had put the writing on the wall last-time out with a return to the straight 1,000m and might have another win up his sleeves over this trip. Iron-horse Money Boy stayed on gamely following a midfield run in the centre of the course to just get second. Alcari kept on well following a prominent run near the stand side. The straight 1,000m might be his preferred trip for the time being as he gains experience. Triumphant Jewel came from near last near the far side to snatch fourth from Saul's Special at huge odds. Saul's Special peaked on his run 100m out after travelling fourth on the far side. Roman Odyssey didn't have much luck travelling on the grandstand side following a midfield run. Mr Lumieres tamely faded passing the 200m after getting softened on the lead by Dragon Pioneer.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (572) - SHA TIN HOI HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Meters

PATRIOTISM, which began only fairly, was crowded for room on jumping between WAKEY and ACE KING, both of which shifted ground.

DRAGON PIONEER shifted out at the start and bumped ROMAN ODYSSEY.

VERY LUCK, which began only fairly, then finished tailed out.

A veterinary inspection of and VERY LUCKY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.

The performance of VERY LUCKY was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, VERY LUCKY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

MONEY BOY and SAUL'S SPECIAL bumped at the start.

After travelling a short distance, VERY LUCKY shifted out and bumped MOST BEAUTIFUL which became unbalanced.

Approaching the 200 Metres, MONEY BOY got its head on the side and lay out and was awkwardly placed inside the heels of WAYFOONG VINNIE.

ACE KING had some difficulty obtaining clear running after the 200 Metres and near the 150 Metres was shifted to the inside of DRAGON PIONEER to obtain clear running.

ROMAN ODYSSEY was unable to obtain clear running from near the 150 Metres until passing the 100 Metres.

When returning to the unsaddling area, T Berry was dislodged from ALCARI without incident.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of MR LUMIERES, A Sanna stated that based on the manner in which MR LUMIERES trialed in the lead up to today's race, he expected it to be a strong chance in the race.

He said after being able to obtain a forward position without having to make too much use of MR LUMIERES in the early stages, MR LUMIERES then travelled very well in the early and middle stages.

He said at the 350 Metres he commenced to ride MR LUMIERES along in order to establish a break over the remainder of the field, however, despite being ridden along, MR LUMIERES did not quicken as he expected it would and he was not able to improve his position on runners racing to its inside.

He added MR LUMIERES then came under immediate pressure and despite being fully tested was disappointing in the manner in which it weakened over the final 100 Metres.

He said he was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of the horse given that it was comfortable in its action at all stages of the race and had worked well leading into the race.

A veterinary inspection of MR LUMIERES immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of MR LUMIERES, a favourite for today's race, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, MR LUMIERES will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

After the race, C Y Ho stated that, despite being hard ridden in the early and middle stages, TRIUMPHANT JEWEL was reluctant to improve its position and became detached from the field.

He said he continued to ride the horse throughout the race and it was not until after the 400 Metres that TRIUMPHANT JEWEL commenced to close off the race.

Also after the race, J Moreira stated that HAIR TRIGGER's action did not feel comfortable and the horse made an abnormal breathing noise after the race.

A veterinary inspection of HAIR TRIGGER immediately following the race found that horse to have sustained a minor wound to the left hind fetlock.

Before being allowed to race again, HAIR TRIGGER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

MR LUMIERES, WAYFOONG VINNIE and MONEY BOY were sent for sampling.
