Recap by phillip woo

Rainbow Gold drew clear at the 150m after travelling wide without cover the entire trip in midfield for the most part from a wide gate. He's always shown promise on this surface and this was his day. Fantastic Fabio poked his head in front at the 200m following a handy run and found one too good in the end. He's placed in his past two with a return to Class Five and should be winning shortly on dirt surface. Happy Sound grudgingly gave way after getting an uncontested lead and kept whacking away after getting away with an uncontested lead to hold down third. It was a better effort with a move to a hood and claimer. Catchmeifyoucan peaked on his run 100m out after looming a winning chance at the 250m following a prominent run without cover from a wide gate. He's not genuine but is well rated on a first-up win on the turf this season.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (567) - KAT O HOI HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Meters

K Teetan (CATCHMEIFYOUCAN) was fined the sum of $3,000 for failing to present himself in the Parade Ring for this race by the required time.

It was noted that this was the third occasion this season that Jockey Teetan had been penalized for breaching the requirement.

CARRY TO WIN began only fairly.

As the start was effected, SKY TREASURE, which was fractious in the barriers, turned its head to the left and consequently began only fairly.

THE GREATEST began awkwardly.

HAPPY SOUND shifted out at the start and bumped TRENDIFUL.

GOBI STORM and RAINBOW GOLD bumped on jumping.

RAINBOW GOLD then became unbalanced, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of CATCHMEIFYOUCAN, causing both horses to become unbalanced.

Near the 1100 Metres, ACTUARIAT was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of FANTASTIC FABIO.

Then near the 1000 Metres, ACTUARIAT was checked away from the heels of FANTASTIC FABIO, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of LE PEGASE.

Approaching the 300 Metres, CARRY TO WIN (J Moreira) became badly unbalanced after being crowded for room inside THE GREATEST which, when giving ground abruptly, shifted in marginally.

A veterinary inspection of THE GREATEST immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils.

After the race, J Moreira stated that CARRY TO WIN did not seem to appreciate racing amongst runners on today's racing surface and after being crowded for room near the 300 Metre, the horse appeared to lose confidence and did not finish off the race.

A veterinary inspection of CARRY TO WIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

After the 100 Metres, RAINBOW GOLD lay out under pressure.

Throughout the race, CATCHMEIFYOUCAN travelled wide and without cover.

K Teetan was warned against the practice of raising his whip arm above the height of his shoulder.

After the race, T Berry stated that after SKY TREASURE did not begin well, it did not travel comfortably when required to race in behind horses and then did not finish off the race in the Straight.

A veterinary inspection of SKY TREASURE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.

When questioned, B Prebble stated that it was believed FIVE STARS AGENT would not have sufficient speed over the 1200 Metres to obtain a forward position and therefore from the outside barrier he was asked to obtain a position with cover if possible, however, it was felt that this would be in midfield or worse and in a three wide position.

He said although FIVE STARS AGENT began well, he commenced to shift it across to obtain a trailing position behind RAINBOW GOLD and GOBI STORM in the early stages.

He said passing the 800 Metres he was racing very wide outside GOBI STORM which at this time was racing wide on the outside of CARRY TO WIN and this resulted in FIVE STARS AGENT being left very wide making the first turn near the 700 Metres.

He added rather than remain unnecessarily wide, he shifted FIVE STARS AGENT in after the 700 Metres to save ground closer to the inside before shifting it to the outside of runners at the entrance to the Straight.

He said however that FIVE STARS AGENT did not finish off the race and, in his opinion, did not seem to appreciate today's racing surface.

A veterinary inspection of FIVE STARS AGENT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that FANTASTIC FABIO had sustained an abrasion above the back of the right hock.

SKY TREASURE, RAINBOW GOLD and FANTASTIC FABIO were sent for sampling.
