Racing Incident Report
Race Two: (521) - AMETHYST HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Meters
OCEAN ELITE, which was fractious in the barriers, was slow to begin.
JUST NOT LISTENING began awkwardly and lost ground.
PEARLY TREASURE shifted out at the start and bumped REFINED TREASURE.
COMPLACENCY lost its right front plate after the 700 Metres.
Passing the 600 Metres, JUST NOT LISTENING was awkwardly placed behind HAPPY FORCE.
Then for some distance after the 500 Metres, JUST NOT LISTENING, which was travelling keenly, was restrained away from the heels of HAPPY FORCE when again awkwardly placed behind that horse.
JUST NOT LISTENING was then held up for clear running passing the 200 Metres.
Near the 275 Metres, COMPLACENCY, which was laying in, was checked away from the heels of LIVERBIRD STAR (K C Leung) which shifted out under pressure.
K C Leung was advised that whilst the Stewards accepted that COMPLACENCY's racing manners had contributed to this incident, nonetheless he was severely reprimanded for failing to make sufficient endeavour to prevent his mount from shifting ground.
A veterinary inspection of HAPPY FORCE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.

REFINED TREASURE and PEARLY TREASURE were sent for sampling.

Favourite Refined Treasure drew clear over the final 200m after driving forward to lead from a middle gate at the 800m to make it back-to-back wins after a hampered run on debut. Pearly Treasure responded nicely when popped the question travelling fore of midfield in the center of the course to grab second 250m out. His trials over the straight 1,000m had been good prior to three unplaced Valley runs, two with excuses, so a positive run was no surprise. Liverbird Star jumped out of his skin second-up to get up from behind midfield to overhaul Dashing Gainer for third 20m out. The step back in distance worked well. Dashing Gainer wouldn't fold without a fight after travelling underneath the winner in the run. He was suited by the downgrade with the claim well utilised. Complacency stayed on all right after being balked for a run approaching the 200m travelling behind midfield three off the grandstand side.
