Racing Incident Report
Race Seven: (433) - FAT CHOI HANDICAP - Class 2 - 2000Meters
DOYENI was slow to begin and despite being ridden along in the early stages failed to muster speed.
From the outside barrier, HELENE CHARISMA was shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover.
In the early stages, ROCKETEER was left racing wide and without cover and passing the 1400 Metres was allowed to improve its position to race outside the lead.
T Berry (HELENE CHARISMA) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that at the 1300 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of VICTORY BOYS, causing that horse to be checked and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled.
T Berry was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Saturday, 3 March 2018 and to expire on Thursday, 8 March 2018 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).
In addition, Jockey Berry was fined $12,500.
After the 1300 Metres, CHEERFUL GIGGLES was left racing wide and without cover.
At the entrance to the Straight, CONSORT was awkwardly placed inside the heels of CHEERFUL GIGGLES after being shifted out from behind HELENE CHARISMA in an attempt to obtain clear running.
VICTORY BOYS, which was following, was shifted in away from the heels of CONSORT in consequence.
PRAWN BABA lost its right hind plate approaching the 100 Metres.
Passing the 50 Metres, CITRON SPIRIT was momentarily awkwardly placed behind ROCKETEER.
HELENE CHARISMA lay in under pressure in the Straight.
A veterinary inspection of VICTORY BOYS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
HAPPILABABY and ROCKETEER were sent for sampling.

Happilababy came on nicely after peeling into the open five deep at the 250m following a midfield run to mow down favourite Rocketeer in the shadows of the post for a second win this term. Rocketeer lost nothing in defeat after moving to the lead 300m out despite punching the breeze one off in second. This run puts him back on track for the Derby next month. Consort closed well after getting into the open widest out at the 200m following a patient ride third from the rear. He's caught the eye in both 2,000m runs this term and might be in the mood for a further trip as well. Specked late Prawn Baba stayed on well following a handy run to continue his good run of form but seems to be more effective on the dirt or at the Valley.
