Recap by phillip woo

Fight Hero capped a huge day for trainer Me Tsui Yu-sak with perfectly-timed run one from the back to blouse House Of Fun on the wire for the win. He relished the fast pace but is a true freak on this surface. House Of Fun produced a huge run after chasing a swift pace three deep without cover to just miss after hitting the front 200m out. He's a winner waiting to happen on either surface. Classic Emperor unleased a good burst to snatch third close to home after settling third from the rear. He was another to benefit from the fast pace but did live up to a runaway mile win in his dirt debut last start and there might be more up his sleeve on this surface. Mr Genuine closed off reasonably well after a deep run behind midfield. He's running well without winning on both surfaces. Post-time favourite Fabulous One was vulnerable late as expected after setting brisk fractions. It was another decent run in defeat but he needs some relief in the rating.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine: (243) - NATHAN HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1200Meters

KING GENKI, Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 2.12.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore foot).

Before being allowed to race again, KING GENKI will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

DRAGON MASTER shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of PERPETUAL TREASURE which became unbalanced.

CLASSIC EMPEROR and RED MARVEL were steadied in the early stages to obtain a position closer to the rail.

In the early part of the Straight, K C Ng (CALIFORNIA WHIP) dropped his right rein.

For the majority of the race, HOUSE OF FUN travelled wide and without cover.

Apprentice H T Mo, the rider of ALMABABY, said the horse, which weakened badly in the Straight, did not feel comfortable in its action over the concluding stages.

A veterinary inspection of ALMABABY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Before being allowed to race again, ALMABABY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

After the race, J Moreira was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of LIMITLESS.

He said the horse travelled well behind the lead, however, did not respond to his riding in the Straight and gave ground.

A veterinary inspection of LIMITLESS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.

A veterinary inspection of PERPETUAL TREASURE immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its right front leg.

The performance of PERPETUAL TREASURE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, PERPETUAL TREASURE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

FABULOUS ONE, FIGHT HERO and HOUSE OF FUN were sent for sampling.
