Race Six: (222) - THE CHEVALIER CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 1 - 1600Meters
CITRON SPIRIT shifted out at the start and bumped MARVEL HERO.
EXULTANT shifted in abruptly at the start, resulting in ROMANTIC TOUCH being crowded for room and taken in onto BOOMING DELIGHT, causing both those horses to be hampered.
ROMANTIC TOUCH was then ridden along in an endeavour to make up lost ground and shortly after the start was steadied when crowded for room between BOOMING DELIGHT which shifted out and JOLLY JOLLY which was racing tight inside EASTERN EXPRESS which got its head on the side and shifted in away from SIMPLY INVINCIBLE.
K Teetan (FIFTY FIFTY) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that for some distance after the 1100 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of BOOMING DELIGHT, causing that horse to be unnecessarily crowded for room and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled approaching the 900 Metres.
K Teetan was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 10 December 2017 and to expire on Thursday, 14 December 2017 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).
In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Teetan's good race riding record.
JOLLY JOLLY, which was following BOOMING DELIGHT, was shifted out away from the heels of that horse in consequence and after this travelled wide and without cover.

Rounding the Home Turn, BOOMING DELIGHT and CITRON SPIRIT raced tight as CITRON SPIRIT shifted out to obtain clear running.
In the early part of the Straight, EASTERN EXPRESS raced in restricted room inside SIMPLY INVINCIBLE.
A veterinary inspection of BOOMING DELIGHT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of JOLLY JOLLY immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm.
Before being allowed to race again, JOLLY JOLLY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
FIFTY FIFTY and EXULTANT were sent for sampling.

Favourite Fifty Fifty held off Exultant after hitting the front 350m out following a prominent run to notch a third win from four starts. He relished a rise in trip and is destined for much better. Exultant came on strongly after travel a distant last to cut the margin to only a half-length. He's got plenty of points in hand and wants an even longer trip. Citron Spirit ran another cheeky race to fill a placing following a rail run in midfield despite a rise in class. He appears to have the tools to win one at this level. Marvel Hero closed off well travelling fourth from back. It was a better performance but is more effective at the Valley. Eastern Express had no excuse following a box-seat run. This was too rich for him. Romantic Touch left his run too late after travelling second from the rear. He's capable but not easy to get right. Booming Delight came up flat final 150 after looming a chance at the 250m following a midfield run.
