Fantastic Eight cornered two lengths on top after leading from a tricky gate and just held off Fionesay for a second win from five starts. Do expect more to come from the three-year-old next season. Fionesay was closing with every stride following a one-out, one-back run. He's back on track after being sidelined for a good part of the season and is one to keep in the black book for next season if he stays healthy. Big Flash closed off well after travelling worse than midfield for a placing. The 1,200m is his distance but the big weight will continue to anchor him at the top of the handicaps in this class. Favourite Master Albert ran on without menacing with two wider out after travelling beyond midfield. He's got an engine but needs more time to settle in. Lang Tai Sing had no excuse following a midfield run. He's had a long season and is better when racing fresh off a break. Super Junior tamely faded after stalking the winner in the run. He's failed to menace twice at this level and may be better suited for the time being over the straight 1,000m.

Race Ten: (778)-RIDING HIGH TOGETHER HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Metres

HAIR TRIGGER was withdrawn on 29.6.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (head injury) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter WONDERFUL TIGER (Apprentice H N Wong).

Before being allowed to race again, HAIR TRIGGER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

SUPER JUNIOR began only fairly.

WONDERFUL TIGER began only fairly and then shortly after the start was bumped by FLYING QUEST which shifted out.

Shortly after the start, WINNING FAITH was steadied away from the heels of LANG TAI SING.

From the outside barriers, MASTER ALBERT and LUCKY GUY were was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

J Moreira (MASTER ALBERT) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching and passing the 1000 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in sharply, resulting in MASTER ALBERT shifting in across the rightful running of SUPER LUCKY, causing that horse to be checked and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled.

Having considered all the relevant circumstances, the Stewards believed it was appropriate for J Moreira to be fined the sum of $255,000 in lieu of a period of suspension which would normally incorporate 3 Hong Kong racedays.

Passing the 900 Metres, LUCKY GUY got its head up when travelling keenly and awkwardly placed behind ARM RUNDA.

Making the turn after the 900 Metres, MASTER ALBERT got its head on the side and shifted out towards the heels of ARM RUNDA, resulting in MASTER ALBERT being awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse.

Approaching the 700 Metres, LUCKY GUY again got its head up on a number of occasions when being checked away from the heels of ARM RUNDA which for the majority of the race travelled wide and without cover.

In the Straight, SUPER LUCKY lay out under pressure.

MASTER ALBERT, FANTASTIC EIGHT and FIONESAY were sent for sampling.
