Drifting favourite Andoyas came with his usual bold move late after getting back from a wide gate to just prevail 60m out for a hat-trick of wins despite 131 pounds. He should be able to step up off a light weight in a higher class. Happy Contender settled a distant last but rattled home to make it a thriller close to home. He had the ground to suit but his honesty is his own enemy which keeps him hovering in a four-point rating band. Punted late, Industrialist Way kept on well to grab third in deep stretch after leading or chasing the leader along the fence. He's had a lot of racing but has been threatening to score in recent runs over a range of course and distances. Sharp Sailor was given every chance sitting handy in the run but came up one paced 100m out after poking his head in front at the 150m. He's better on fast going. Jolly Gene was again not far off the finish after a tough run to eventually lead 800m out from the widest gate. He can pop up at any moment. Amazing Gold got going late from beyond midfield. He's on the right track.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (568)-THE SINGAPORE TURF CLUB TROPHY (HANDICAP) - Class 3 - 2200Metres

THE SYLPH shifted out abruptly at the start and made heavy contact with SHARP SAILOR which was crowded for room inside HAPPY ROCKY.

In this incident, HAPPY ROCKY became unbalanced after being bumped on a number of occasions by SHARP SAILOR.

AMAZING GOLD, ANDOYAS and HAPPY CONTENDER were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

For some distance after the start, RICKFIELD got its head up when being steadied to obtain cover.

Passing the 2100 Metres, WHITE MAGIC got its head up when being steadied to obtain cover.

K C Leung (AMAZING GOLD) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 400 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of THE SYLPH, causing that horse to be checked and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled.

K C Leung was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Thursday, 20 April 2017 and to expire on Monday, 24 April 2017 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).

In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Leung's good race riding record.

Passing the 100 Metres, M Chadwick (JOLLY GENE) dropped his whip.

Also passing the 100 Metres, INDUSTRIALIST WAY was steadied when disappointed for running between SHARP SAILOR which initially shifted out and ANDOYAS which shifted in under pressure.

For the majority of the race, ENORMOUS HONOUR travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.

After the race, C Y Ho stated that WORKS OF ART came under pressure after the 800 Metres and then, despite being ridden along, continued to give ground for the remainder of the race.

A veterinary inspection of WORKS OF ART immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of WORKS OF ART was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, WORKS OF ART will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

ANDOYAS and HAPPY CONTENDER were sent for sampling.
