Recap by phillip woo

Right Call held the fence sharing the lead with two others, edged clear at the 400m and had enough left in the tank to hold off the fast-finishing Hang's Decision to notch a fourth career win and first from nine starts in this class. The wet conditions played into his hands but he should find it harder following a penalty. Hang's Decision whizzed home down the outside after a patient ride third from the rear. It was a huge run carrying a big weight and he can hold his own off a lightweight if upgraded. Chung Wah Spirit finished well after peeling into the open at the 300m following a ground-saving run in midfield to get up in the last strides for a placing. He's caught the eye in his two outings and will be winning shortly. Harbour Nova closed off well to just miss a placing after travelling under a tight hold one-off in midfield. He's running reasonably well without winning at this level but looks a near certainty if he can get the point drop in class. Blaze Stamina just lost a placing late after working hard to share the lead three deep without cover. The gate beat him and he remains a runner to follow up on over the 1,200m at either course. Favourite Jing Jing Win had to vetted after sitting down in the gate prior to the start.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine: (507)-COLLECTION HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Metres

After being loaded into the barriers, JING JING WIN became fractious and sat down.

JING JING WIN was removed from the barriers and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.

JING JING WIN then proved difficult to reload.

A veterinary inspection of JING JING WIN immediately following the race found that horse to have sustained a graze to the left hind cannon and a small cut to the outside of the left hind heel.

Before being allowed to race again, JING JING WIN will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

NUMERO UNO was slow to begin.

CHUNG WAH SPIRIT began only fairly.

PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT began very awkwardly, shifted out abruptly despite the efforts of its rider and made heavy contact with the hindquarters of CALL ME AWESOME which became unbalanced and in turn bumped the hindquarters of ENDEARING which also became unbalanced.

This resulted in PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT losing a considerable amount of ground.

Before being allowed to race again, PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.

ENDEARING lost its left front plate shortly after the start.

Shortly after the start, CHUNG WAH SPIRIT and OCULIST bumped.

CHUNG WAH SPIRIT then got its head on the side and lay in across the heels of JING JING WIN which shifted out on jumping.

This resulted in JING JING WIN becoming unbalanced.

Also shortly after the start, CLASSIC VINEGAR was steadied away from the heels of BLAZE STAMINA which shifted in.

After this, CLASSIC VINEGAR was shifted across behind runners.

From a wide barrier, HAIR TRIGGER was shifted across behind runners to obtain cover in the early stages.

Also from a wide barrier, HANG??S DECISION was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Near the 1000 Metres, CALL ME AWESOME, which travelled wide and without cover throughout the race, commenced to prove very difficult to settle.

Making the turn after the 900 Metres, PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT was awkwardly placed behind HARBOUR NOVA.

HARBOUR NOVA lost its left front plate near the 700 Metres.

Passing the 400 Metres, CHUNG WAH SPIRIT was awkwardly placed close to the heels of JING JING WIN.

Near the 150 Metres, HAPPY HAPPY STAR was steadied away from the heels of HARBOUR NOVA which shifted out.

Over the final 100 Metres, HANG??S DECISION lay in under pressure.

Passing the 50 Metres, OCULIST was shifted in away from the heels of CALL ME AWESOME.

Throughout the race, BLAZE STAMINA travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned regarding the performance of HAPPY HAPPY STAR, J Moreira stated that, from the outside barrier, he rode his mount positively in the early stages to obtain a forward position, however, due to a number of runners going forward, he did not believe it was in the best interests of the horse to continue to pursue the lead and for this reason he elected, after the 1000 Metres, to steady his mount and obtain cover.

He said HAPPY HAPPY STAR initially got its head up when being steadied, however, he was able to shift in to obtain cover after the 900 Metres.

He said when he did this HAPPY HAPPY STAR raced greenly and appeared to resent racing behind runners with the kickback.

He added in the early part of the Straight HAPPY HAPPY STAR initially responded to his riding, however, the horse came under pressure over the final 200 Metres and then finished off the race one-paced.

He said at this stage of its career HAPPY HAPPY STAR lacks maturity and as such today??s run was not as disappointing as it may have seemed.

A veterinary inspection of HAPPY HAPPY STAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

JING JING WIN, RIGHT CALL and HANG??S DECISION were sent for sampling.
