Racing Incident Report
Race Five: (117)-THE FAKEI CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 3 - 1650Metres
TEAM SWEET and NORTHERN FALLS bumped at the start.From the outside barrier, ROYAL PARTNER was steadied and shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
In the early stages, KA YING KID was ridden along and approaching the winning post on the first occasion, when racing wide, was steadied and shifted across behind runners in an attempt to obtain a position close to the rail, however, for the majority of the race remained racing wide and without cover.
In the early and middle stages, MR POTENTIAL travelled keenly in the lead.
Rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, ROYAL PARTNER got its head on the side and lay out.
Then passing the 300 Metres, ROYAL PARTNER, which was continuing to hang out, was shifted in away from the heels of TEAM SWEET.
Also passing the 300 Metres, DINOZZO was momentarily crowded for room inside A BEAUTIFUL which shifted in before being directed back out to relieve the tightening to DINOZZO.
Passing the 200 Metres, TEAM SWEET was checked out across the heels of NORTHERN FALLS to obtain clear running.
After the race, J Moreira (A BEAUTIFUL) explained that approaching the 200 Metres his saddle shifted considerably to the right hand side, placing him at a disadvantage.
Passing the 150 Metres, A BEAUTIFUL was then severely checked when crowded for room between DINOZZO which was attempting to improve between A BEAUTIFUL and WAH MAY BABY (D Whyte) which shifted out.
The crowding to A BEAUTIFUL was compounded by INVENTOR (N Rawiller) which, after shifting in under pressure, then became unbalanced and was turned in across the rightful running of A BEAUTIFUL after being heavily bumped on the hindquarters.
The Stewards were satisfied that whilst Z Purton, the rider of DINOZZO, was committed to the run between WAH MAY BABY and A BEAUTIFUL, that horse had not properly established running outside WAH MAY BABY and as such D Whyte was reprimanded and reminded of his obligation to immediately stop riding and straighten his mounts when they shift ground.
Further, N Rawiller was advised that whilst the contribution of INVENTOR was exacerbated by being turned in due to the contact on its hindquarters by A BEAUTIFUL, nonetheless he should have stopped riding his mount sooner than he did.
Accordingly N Rawiller was also reprimanded.
After this incident, J Moreira was unable to test A BEAUTIFUL due to his saddle having shifted.
Close to the finishing line, DINOZZO raced tight inside INVENTOR, obliging the rider of that horse to stop riding and straighten INVENTOR in order to prevent that horse from shifting in further.
A veterinary inspection of MR POTENTIAL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A BEAUTIFUL, WAH MAY BABY and INVENTOR were sent for sampling.

Wah May Baby pulled outside the tiring leader Mr Potential at the 300m following a box-seat run and responded to get up 150m out for the win. He liked the wet conditions. Inventor stayed on well travelling fore of midfield to just fend off newcomer Dinozzo for second. He had his win streak halted at three but it was still a good run in defeat. Dinozzo copped a sharp bump when pulling off heels for a clear run approaching the 100m to just miss second after a patient ride third from the rear. It was an eye-catching debut and he'll get a longer trip as well. Royal Partner ran on well from the tail of the field. He was suited by the race tempo. Favourite A Beautiful was twice badly hampered in the drive and can be forgiven for the run.
