Recap by phillip woo

The big-striding Lucky Girl kept up a strong gallop after clearing to the front 1,200m to prevail well in hand in a class record time. His tactical speed makes him one to continue following over a mile and 1,800m. Specked late, Ultimate Glory finished well along the inside following a box-seat run to come out a clear second. He's shown in his two starts to be capable at this level and is equally dangerous at the Valley and on dirt. Thumped in betting, California Disegno kept on dourly after stalking the pace in an improved run with a rise in trip and he should get further as well. Star Majestic was the only one to really get going from the back. He'll be tough to beat with a return to his favourite Valley course over a mile or 1,800m with this run under his belt. Late-fancied favourite Sergeant Titanium covered too much ground travelling near the back from a wide gate and never fired.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (091)-YUEN LONG HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1600Metres

SIMPLY INVINCIBLE began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped UP AND COMING, causing both horses to become unbalanced.

From the outside barrier, STAR MAJESTIC was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Despite being vigorously ridden along, SUPREME PROFIT failed to muster speed and passing the 1500 Metres was shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.

In the middle stages, MIGHTY MAVERICK proved difficult to settle and travelled keenly and near the 1000 Metres, when continuing to prove difficult to settle, was steadied away from the heels of CALIFORNIA DISEGNO (M Chadwick) which shifted in when not properly clear.

M Chadwick was severely reprimanded.

PACKING LLAREGYB was unable to obtain clear running in the early part of the Straight and approaching the 300 Metres shifted to the outside of MIGHTY MAVERICK into clear running, causing HARBOUR MASTER to be crowded for room inside TOP ACT.

Then approaching the 200 Metres, HARBOUR MASTER was steadied away from the heels of PACKING LLAREGYB (N Rawiller) which shifted out under pressure.

In this incident, TOP ACT was bumped by HARBOUR MASTER.

N Rawiller was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he makes every endeavour to keep his mounts on a straight course.

Throughout the race, TOP ACT travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned regarding the performance of SIMPLY INVINCIBLE, C Schofield stated that as the horse had been performing best when allowed to relax in the early stages, he shifted SIMPLY INVINCIBLE across behind runners in the early stages and it then travelled comfortably.

He said he followed RENAISSANCE ART throughout the race as he expected this horse would be a strong chance in the race and after the 500 Metres commenced to shift out with that horse to obtain clear running.

He said SIMPLY INVINCIBLE initially had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight, however, after obtaining clear running then finished off the race only one-paced.

He added although SIMPLY INVINCIBLE again had some difficulty obtaining clear running approaching and passing the 200 Metres, nonetheless the horse was disappointing in his view.

When questioned regarding the performance of SERGEANT TITANIUM, B Prebble stated that it was anticipated today??s race would be run at a good tempo and therefore, from a wide barrier, he should have SERGEANT TITANIUM racing where it was comfortable.

He said, as anticipated, the race was run truly and SERGEANT TITANIUM travelled very comfortably in a three wide position with cover behind UP AND COMING.

He said he shifted SERGEANT TITANIUM to the outside of runners rounding the Home Turn to allow the horse to wind into the race and SERGEANT TITANIUM initially quickened satisfactorily.

He said although SERGEANT TITANIUM then finished off the race only one-paced in the Straight, he was not overly disappointed in the performance of the horse as it had previously performed below expectations second up in its campaign.

He further stated he believed that SERGEANT TITANIUM would be better suited by races over a longer distance than that of today??s event.

A veterinary inspection of SERGEANT TITANIUM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.

A veterinary inspection of RENAISSANCE ART immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.

SERGEANT TITANIUM, LUCKY GIRL and ULTIMATE GLORY were sent for sampling.
