Elite Spirit was handy in the run without cover from a wide gate, rounded the final bend five deep and finished well to get up 50m out to remain unbeaten in two outings on the dirt this term. Turin Pearl enjoyed a lovely run in the box-seat, straightened four deep and found one too good in the dash to the wire in a good run following a stable change. Punted late, Sky Man eventually cleared to lead from a wide gate, cornered near two lengths on top and kept on gamely for a placing in a positive first run on the surface. Favourite Hit The Bid was getting going late near the inside after travelling behind midfield along the fence. He was anchored by the weight. Sky Hero was caught very deep until landing a spot one off in second at the 600m, straightened three deep and was giving way 150m out. Kirov made some ground without menacing with one wider out after travelling third from the rear. Beauty Connection made some ground widest out after travelling at the rear. Grand Plus was only one-paced following a rails run in midfield. Specked late, Noble Alpha made only a minor bid with two wider out following a one-off run behind midfield. Presidentparamount swung the final bend with three wider out and was failing to pick up under the pump in his initial run on the surface.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (438)-CITI GLOBAL BANKING HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Metres

K C Leung (TURIN PEARL) reported that his saddle shifted back on jumping, placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race.

GLORIOUS AVENUE began awkwardly and then shortly after the start was awkwardly placed outside KIROV.

BEAUTY CONNECTION and SKY HERO bumped at the start, resulting in SKY HERO becoming unbalanced and shifting in, causing BEAUTY CONNECTION to be hampered.

After this, BEAUTY CONNECTION was shifted across behind runners.

EVERYDAY LETTUCE shifted out at the start and bumped PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT.

Near the 950 Metres, PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT was crowded for room between NOBLE ALPHA which shifted in marginally and EVERYDAY LETTUCE which got its head up and shifted out.

Making the first turn after the 700 Metres, HIT THE BID was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GRAND PLUS which got its head up when racing close to the heels of TURIN PEARL.

For the majority of the race, ELITE SPIRIT travelled wide and without cover and approaching the 600 Metres was bumped by PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT which got its head on the side and hung out.

Also near the 600 Metres, GRAND PLUS commenced to prove difficult to settle and got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of TURIN PEARL and EVERYDAY LETTUCE.

After the 500 Metres, HIT THE BID was awkwardly placed when disappointed for running between GRAND PLUS and PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT.

Shortly after entering the Straight, TURIN PEARL and ELITE SPIRIT bumped and raced tight as a result of TURIN PEARL shifting out into clear running.

When question regarding the disappointing performance of PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT which was racing on the All Weather Track for the first time, R Moore stated that, in his opinion, the horse resented the kickback as it commenced to hang from the 700 Metres and continued to do so for the remainder of the race.

He said when he had ridden the horse on turf, it had raced tractably which was not the case on today's surface.

A veterinary inspection of PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT immediately following the race revealed the horse to have sustained a small cut to the right front leg.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of GRAND PLUS, B Prebble stated that he was unable to offer any reason for the horse's run other than the fact that it was up in grade today.

A veterinary inspection of GRAND PLUS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.

A veterinary inspection of GLORIOUS AVENUE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

HIT THE BID, ELITE SPIRIT and TURIN PEARL were sent for sampling.
