Early favourite Giant Treasure enjoyed a lovely run in midfield, stayed to the inside upon straightening, hit the front 150m out and just held on by a bob of heads. Luger swung the final bend with three wider out after making his run outside Giant Treasure and finished willingly to make it a thriller on the line in a superb run following a near eighth month absence. Late-fancied favourite Contentment made a steady bid four deep following a box-seat run to finish a clear-cut third. Beauty Only travelled fourth from the rear after a sluggish break, barged his way into the open six deep at the 300m and finished well to just snare a Quartet spot. Blazing Speed stayed on reasonably well three from the right after a one-off run beyond midfield. He's better over the 2,000m and further. Military Attack was making a good bid late near the inside after settling third from the rear from a wide gate. Designs On Rome was getting going widest out after trailing the field following a tardy break. He's clearly better over 2,000m. Beauty Flame cornered narrowly on top and was yielding ground 100m out.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine: (365)-THE STEWARDS' CUP - Group One - 1600Metres

DESIGNS ON ROME was slow to begin.

MULTIVICTORY knuckled over on jumping.

Shortly after the start, BLAZING SPEED was taken out by BEAUTY FLAME, resulting in BEAUTY ONLY being crowded for room when taken out onto the hindquarters of GIANT TREASURE which became unbalanced.

From a wide barrier, MILITARY ATTACK was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.

Passing the 1500 Metres, BLAZING SPEED was steadied away from the heels of GIANT TREASURE which was taken in by LUGER.

Near the 300 Metres, CONTENTMENT momentarily raced tight between MULTIVICTORY and BEAUTY FLAME.

Passing the 300 Metres, BEAUTY ONLY shifted out to obtain clear running and brushed BLAZING SPEED.

A veterinary inspection of MULTIVICTORY immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea.

CONTENTMENT, GIANT TREASURE and LUGER were sent for sampling.
