Recap by phillip woo

Imperial Concorde settled fourth from the rear, straightened six deep and let down strongly to get up 50m out for an overdue win at his 19th start. Punted late, Jolly Good Star led as expected, straightened a length on top and was no match for the winner. Expedite sat one off in second, straightened three deep with every chance and came up one-paced over the last 100m. Harbour Delight enjoyed a box-seat run, pulled out three deep coming to the final bend and only held his ground over the final 150m. True Comment covered a tonne of ground from a wide gate fore of midfield, rushed forward to sit three deep in second at the 900m, cornered four deep and kept on evenly over the final 200m in a much-improved effort with a step up in distance and drop in class. Cruise Control settled second from the rear and made some ground one off the rails without menacing. Drifting favourite Happy Moments was under the pump a long ways out near the back and got passed beaten rivals.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (394)-JOY AND FUN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Metres

CULTURAL CITY began awkwardly and shortly after the start, from a wide barrier, was shifted across behind runners.

Despite being ridden along in the early stages, CRUISE CONTROL failed to muster speed.

TRUE COMMENT was left racing very wide in the early stages and after the 1200 Metres was allowed to improve to race closer to the lead, however, continued to race three wide and without cover and after the 700 Metres got its head on the side and hung out.

Approaching the 800 Metres, GOOD FIT commenced to prove very difficult to settle and got its head up on a number of occasions when being checked away from the heels of HAPPY MOMENTS.

CRUISE CONTROL was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GOLD PRECIOUS near the 600 Metres.

Passing the 100 Metres, HARBOUR DELIGHT shifted out under pressure.

For the majority of the race, FAIR WIND travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.

The performance of BE THERE AHEAD, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, BE THERE AHEAD will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

HAPPY MOMENTS lost its right front plate and JOLLY GOOD STAR lost its left front plate during the running of the race.

After the race, J Moreira stated that HAPPY MOMENTS' disappointing run could be attributed to the horse failing to handle the prevailing track conditions.

A veterinary inspection of HAPPY MOMENTS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of BE THERE AHEAD and GOLD PRECIOUS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

HAPPY MOMENTS, IMPERIAL CONCORDE and JOLLY GOOD STAR were sent for sampling.
