It’s not an overstatement to say the world of professional wrestling has turned on its axis since the last time the Post caught up with Ho Ho Lun 2½ years ago.
From promoting shows in his home city of Hong Kong, the 34-year-old former WWE star has found himself stuck in Japan for most of the coronavirus pandemic, honing his skills in the ring and the commentary booth with local promotion Dragon Gate, all while a wrestling revolution was taking place in the US in the form of the upstart AEW.
With most of the world starting to return to something resembling normal, Lun will make his All Elite Wrestling debut on Tuesday night’s (US time) YouTube-only broadcast of AEW Dark, in a highly anticipated match against former TNT champion Sammy Guevara – who has quickly established himself as one of the burgeoning company’s brightest young talents.
“That’s gonna be fun,” Lun said on Tuesday morning from Florida, taking care not to let anything slip and land himself in hot water by revealing the result of a match pre-taped in December.
“I received this invitation two weeks ago. This AEW Dark TV show, they always invite a lot of people from the independent scene to come in there to perform, to fight with some of their contracted talent.
