The duo of Vivian Lau Wan-yai and Leung Yuk-wing were favourites after topping their group with a 100 per cent record and they lived up to their billing at the Ariake Gymnastics Centre.

Portugal took a 1-0 lead after the first end but the experienced Hong Kong pair fired right back with an unanswered three points in the next end to lead 3-1 at halfway.

While the Portuguese duo of Carla Oliveira and Manuel Cruz pulled back a point in the third end, the Hongkongers added a fourth and some gloss to the win in the fourth and final end to win 4-2.

That takes the pair – and the unused Wong Kwan-hang – to this afternoon’s gold medal match where they will face Slovakia who toppled the Russian Paralympic Committee 5-2, coming back from 2-1 down at halfway.
