Haughey, who impressed for the French team last season, including an MVP performance in week six, joined the likes of Chad Le Clos and Sarah Sjostrom on the list.

Energy Standard and champions Cali Condors were the first two of the ISL’s 10 teams to name their “protected” athletes.

The Condors named 25 athletes on their list – including last season’s regular and finals MVP Caeleb Dressel and Lilly King – while the 2020 season runners-up have named 29 swimmers.

That means the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games medal prospect could stay with last season’s runners-up for the coming season later this year.

While Energy Standard named the 23-year-old as one of their protected athletes, teams can only retain 15 according to the new draft rules, plus an additional swimmer voted for by fans.
