So much sport, so little time. Anyway, rugby, boxing, English Premier League, cricket, Formula One, golf – pick your poison, it’s all here

Seriously, did anyone see this coming? Not even the most optimistic Argentina fan could have called this. What was supposed to be a celebration of South African dominance and Eben Etzebeth’s record-equalling 127th Test cap is now something else entirely.

Already with an All Blacks scalp to their names, Argentina’s 29-28 win over the Springboks in Santiago keeps the Rugby Championship title race alive. The second-placed Pumas will win the competition for the first time if they secure a bonus-point victory in South Africa on September 28 and prevent the home team gaining any points. Unlikely, but then so was this result.

If you’re just waking up, the Rugby Championship clash was the end to a dramatic night of sport, when a heavyweight boxing title was decided, Liverpool went top of the Premier League, albeit briefly, and Australia’s cricketers handed England another thrashing. Here then, is a look at what happened while you were sleeping.

Joshua goes tumbling down

It’s Sunday, so why not a religious reference to get things started, even if this time (Anthony) Joshua was the one doing the tumbling.

In a battle of Britain attended by 96,000 fans at Wembley Stadium, Daniel Dubois dropped Joshua multiple times in a dominant display. The pair didn’t even need to go around the ring six times before Dubois ended proceedings in the fifth round with an incredible counter right hook.

Dubois retained his IBF heavyweight title, putting him into the conversation of who fights the winner of the expected Tyson Fury, Oleksandr Usyk clash. Joshua, meanwhile, lost his fourth fight in five years, but hinted he could trigger the rematch clause in his contract.

“Before I came here, I always say to myself I’m a fighter for life. You keep rolling the dice,” said Joshua, who had been bidding to become a three-time champion.

Doing it all

Luis Diaz may have scored twice in Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Bournemouth, but it was the sensational strike from Darwin Nunez that will live long in the memory.
