Media reports in Chile claimed the Reds are set to take part in a triangular event involving Chilean side Colo Colo and new Chinese Super League champions Shanghai SIPG next summer.
Jurgen Klopp’s men were last seen in the Far East when they played two games in Hong Kong as part of the Premier League Asia Trophy 2017 against Crystal Palace and Leicester City at the start of a campaign which saw the Anfield club go all the way to the Uefa Champions League final.

Liverpool are among a group of English clubs which have adopted a commercial strategy of alternating their off-season tours to the United States and the Far East in recent seasons.

Liverpool’s primary club sponsor Standard Chartered has Asia headquarters in Hong Kong and is listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

Chilean outlet La Tercera reported that negotiations are well underway between the three clubs and MG Motors, Colo Colo’s main sponsor and one of Liverpool’s secondary sponsors who are now based in Shanghai, as the car manufacturer seeks to boost its profile in China.
