Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu said on Monday that the government had “always actively invested resources to support sports development in Hong Kong”.

“We are making every effort to promote the largest sports infrastructure project in Hong Kong’s history – Kai Tak Sports Park,” he said.

“The park will be inaugurated next year, providing various sports facilities for public use and exceptional venues for hosting world-class events, promoting sports development and large-scale events in Hong Kong.”

Lee was speaking at an event organised by the local sports industry to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
