Chow, 34, who works as an art assistant at a special needs school, developed an interest in the subject at the age of eight and has become skilled in a wide range of mediums, including acrylics and oils, and styles such as landscapes and portraits.

His mother, Yip Shui-heung, said his exposure to various styles and techniques had proved beneficial and now some of his works had been sold at auction.

“It was something unimaginable, that his paintings were liked and were bought by people,” she said. “I never dreamed that this could become his career, that he could have a job in something he loved.”

Chow also expressed his happiness over working at Hong Chi Winifred Mary Cheung Morninghope School.
