Since 1931, Jaeger-LeCoultre, one of the most venerable and prestigious of all Swiss luxury watchmakers, has been doing something rather remarkable: producing a watch with a reversible face. One of the all time classics of watchmaking, the Reverso was originally created to help polo players protect the faces of their watches while taking part in the high impact sport. Now, a new version of the timeless piece, the Reverso Tribute Duoface Calendar, combines two complications for which the maison is renowned: the triple calendar and the Duoface.

The latter is a much loved Reverso function that allows the wearer to display two time zones on different faces. The former unites day, date and month indications, which appear at the top of the dial, complemented by a moon phase display opposite them at 6 o’clock.

The Reverso Tribute Duoface Calendar is available in two versions, one in pink gold and the other in stainless steel. The pink gold model exudes warmth, while its steel cousin is a more understated affair, with a restrained colour palette and a grained dial. On both, that dial has been extensively redesigned from previous versions of the Reverso, while still retaining the model’s unmistakable visual identity. It features a new sunrayed finish, which emanates from the same central point as the hands; alongside new hour markers, which are set around the edge of the chemin de fer minute track.

The timepiece is powered by the in-house manually wound calibre 853. A highly individual movement first introduced in 1994, it is specifically designed to fit into oblong shaped watches.

The Reverso Tribute Duoface Calendar also plays tribute to the model’s history as an aid to polo players, thanks to a partnership with Casa Fagliano, the world’s leading makers of polo boots for five generations, based in Argentina. Casa Fagliano has created the new Reverso’s unique straps, two for each watch, which can easily be swapped over: calf leather versions in deep blue for the steel model and brown for the pink gold model, along with an alternative, leather and fabric version for each, in the colours of vintage equestrian equipment.
