Christmas

From Lane Crawford’s twist on the traditional Christmas tree to Gisela Graham’s adorable dog ornaments, deck the halls with sustainable decor without sacrificing that essential sparkle

As the year draws to a close, many of us are taking extra care when getting ready for the holidays. After months of working from home, we have become acutely aware of our surroundings and how interiors can affect – and inspire – our well-being. The trends this festive season continue to focus on the home as a place that needs to wear different hats for different occasions. The common denominator is responsible consumption – and that means investing in cherished pieces that spark joy while adding holiday glitter.

Home furnishing specialists Indigo Living recently launched a Christmas gift guide to celebrate those precious moments we shared with loved ones, especially during this challenging year.

“This Christmas will be one that everyone remembers”, says John McLennan, founder and executive chairman of Indigo Living. “With travel mostly restricted, the trend is not so much what colour is in or what decoration is the most popular – it is more about how you spend the time with loved ones. Whether it is with family or friends, everyone is looking at what this means.

“For us, living beautifully is all about time with family and friends, and being supportive in the community, not only during the holiday season but all year round.”

Whether it is a traditional snowy pine cone and red berry wreath for the front door to welcome visitors, gold, silver and other decorative baubles to dress up a tree, or classics such as Nutcracker figurines, Indigo Living offers a wealth of festive Christmas decor to make the season brighter. Dog lovers in particular will adore Gisela Graham’s assortment of resin dogs that double as tree and table ornaments.

Tree’s variation on evergreen Christmas ideas is a crafty and sustainable solution that injects immediate charm to the home. “We are becoming increasingly aware of how our purchases can have an impact on the planet, and are starting to invest in timeless, sustainable items that can be used season after season”, explains Kate Babington, managing director with Tree.
