Finding the right personal trainer isn’t easy when you’re Travis Kelce. It requires a unique partnership, and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end has found this in Laurence Justin Ng, who he trains with on the West Coast during his off-time with Taylor Swift. The athlete and the pop star have been dating since 2023.
He was once an athlete too
Laurence Ng was once an athlete himself. Raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, he immersed himself in sports, playing football, basketball and baseball throughout high school, as noted on his website. He excelled in baseball, eventually playing at the collegiate level, but a torn rotator cuff cut his athletic career short.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Laurence decided to pivot to training athletes and began studying human movement and performance enhancement at San Diego State University. After graduating with a degree in kinesiology in 2007, he launched his career as a trainer.
“As a young trainer, I made a deliberate choice to prioritise my career ambitions over social activities,” he shared with VoyageKC, a Kansas City publication, in July. “While many of my friends were out partying, I would often choose to stay home and study. At that age it felt like a significant sacrifice, but one that I believed would set me apart and propel me forward in my career.”
He now works with Travis Kelce
His dedication began to pay off. Slowly, he built a prestigious client base including Kelce, who is playing his 12th season this year, and is a three-time Super Bowl champion.
