But what about in real life? In the early 2000s, troubled stars Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan were pilloried in the press for being snapped without their drawers (even though they never asked for hoards of paparazzi to photograph them from inappropriate angles ... ) – and more recently Bianca Censori has caused commotions with her bold, no undies looks.

1. Drew Barrymore
In a recent episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the 50 First Dates actress raised her hand when she was asked by her co-host Ross Matthews who among her guests eschewed underwear.
“I enjoy commando,” she said, adding that the only downside was the fact that her daughter, armed with this information, delights in pulling her trousers down when she least expects it.
